Lol at that crap team only winning by 2 with 10 more penalties

Roosters have showed their defence has been good and it was again tonight. This win will bring a lot of confidence to Eels. Doesn't matter how much we won by we still won. Dogs won by 1 point does that mean we are better than them? Silly statement

The Roosters won a comp off the back of illegally slowing down the opposition ruck. The Roosters aren't undisciplined and they're not picked on by the refs - they deliberately give up penalties rather than quick play-the-balls. They should get penalised even more often but they know refs get sick of blowing the whistle.

If they had less fat merkins they'd be able to compete in a fast game.

Just got back from the. Game, didn't realise what the penalty count was. At the game it seemed the. Rorters were laying all over the player to slow things down, and left early at every play the ball.

Refs seemed to give up blowing the penalties, how about that forward pass with about 4 minutes to go, Joe Montana would have liked it

How do the Blues halves like it getting outplayed by what most think are 3rd choice Qld halves

The Rorters Are still a top 4 side, prepared to give penalties away to defend and get their line back in shape, just not scoring at the moment

Eels are red-hot ATM. Sandow on fire and their forwards really working hard. Manu Ma'u is a machine!
Loved the "Semi Trailer will Kava them up" sign.

I had a good feeling about Parra this year ever since I read a bit about Brad Arthur. And criticise what you will about Ricky Stuart but it appears he did a really good job of cleaning out the dead wood and getting high quality replacements, even amongst some real unknown talents. Peats was the key signing though, no Peats and I think Eels are still struggling. I think he really changed the player group on field and off field, he is a very demanding figure and would have brought a higher level of expectation from within the player group towards challenging themselves

Concede a quick play the ball and give up 12-14m from a dummy half scoot... Or give away a penalty and give up a guaranteed 30m field position plus a whole new set.

Yep, makes total sense.

f**ks sake is love to know whatever moron came up with this gem theory and just how they managed to get all of rugby league to swallow it wholesale.

If our big fat men were tiring of the quick play it certainly didn't show. We killed you in general play. 6 linebreaks to 2, more metres gained, more possession, better field position, less missed tackles... We dominated all stats except for the scoreboard (the only one that matters)

Parra won tonight off the back of scrambling defence. Your team would not give up cheap points on their line and the roosters halves frankly didn't have anything to test them with so you brick walled us well.

quick play the balls and deliberate penalties had nothing to do with it

You're not giving up anything when it's close to your line, or when the ref gets embarrassed about the lop-sided penalty count and puts his whistle away.

Not against our small pack, but against every other team the Roosters faced this year.

Made more errors too. But I will concede the Chooks were a bit unlucky overall. Parra played their absolute best and only got up by two points at home. I'm not buying Arthur's we-can-still-improve line. We will only improve when our younger, bigger forwards are ready for week-to-week NRL football. Lussick might've made a difference too.

Still, without testing the refs on every single tackle (including moving up too soon), the Roosters wouldn't have been so dominant in the ruck. That kind of thing can compound and you get what we saw in round two.

Yet we won our first penalty count all year - convincingly in the first half, when the Roosters were most dominant. Coincidence?

First half:
Eels 4 penalties, 425 metres
Chooks 1 penalty, 685 metres

Second half:
Eels 4 penalties, 702 metres
Chooks: 3 penalties, 666 metres

Conceded penalties do not reflect 'ill discipline' in the sense of getting away from what you are attempting to do. They reflect deliberate illegal efforts at ruck dominance (and I'm not just talking about the Roosters). There probably should be more of them (though it would ruin the spectacle, which is why there are never as many as there should be).

Did the Eels receive a penalty for laying over the play thr ball in the second???

The 'tactic' (storm use it too) is to slow the ruck down and concede early , and dare the referee to keep blowing it all night. The referee rarely does, and thus the defence is on top.

it

The Rorters give up the penalties in their own 20 metres area, so they can get their line set. The refs get tired of the continual penalties and allow more leniency, it's a deliberate tactic and you know it!

 Are people still claiming the Roosters deliberately hand the opposition more tackles and field position. f**k me Rugby League attracts some of the dumbest merkins out.

Yeah, I'm sure giving away penalties on the last tackle 10m out from our line is all part of the plan...No doubt it's something Politis has hatched with his mates in the NRL

Hi welcome to league. In this game coaches use tactics and tell players what to do.

Try watching your team or the Storm. They give away early penalties based on the logic that the ref will not want to keep blowing it over and over.

For what it's worth I think it's a great tactic.
