Anyone heard how we ended up with injuries? Ava looked to have done something to a shoulder and so did Simona...

Simona finished the game, so should be fine you'd think
Ava looked in a lot of pain - he and Tedesco would be the worries.

Ava looks like he could be out for a few weeks. Tedesco i'm less concerned about. He walked off. I'm guessing he rolled his ankle, maybe a week off at worst.

Simona got what looked to be a stinger, i think he'll be okay.

Tigers had 10 players run for 90+ metres
Manly had 2 (both were backs, Hiku and Matai)

That's the thing that deserves the most praise but rarely will because of the flair the side has in attack, is the Tigers defence.

The scoreline flattered Manly. One try which wouldn't have been scored if the ref had've acknowledged halftime and another scored when we were defending with 12 players when Ava was down injured.

And to do that in wet weather against as near as a full strength Manly side is impressive beyond belief.

Seriously how the hell did we let the Dragons and Warriors beat us ???
Simple, our forwards didn't turn up.

Our forwards turn up and play hard - we win
Our forwards amble around - we get flogged

Most impressive defender yesterday was Brooks, only 3 missed tackles, his best defensive effort yet by a very long margin. He'd had 25 missed tackles in his first 4 games this year (more than any other player in the NRL)

Instead of expecting players to run at him, he took the initiative and he ran up into their faces. He's never going to make big tackles but if he get up in their face quick, it'll be enough to be a nuisance and it will give cover defenders time to effect a tackle.

It could even lead to players not running at him as much, which is even better.

He needs to persist with this new style.

I think this is a question that many of us scratching our heads over.

In another post I talked about tipping and before the season started I looked at the first five rounds to try and gauge where we might be at. I really thought we'd have three wins and I thought the Dragons and Warriors would be wins.

If only we'd turned up for those games....I have to admit though it does get me a little excited about how this season may go but I tell you 2015 could be a great year.

I feel the exact same way

I wonder if it is possible for a young side like they are to play the way they have against Souths and Manly each week?

I would think not at this stage.... hopefully they can get that consistency over the back half of the season...

The Dragons game was all on the back of the illness in the camp.

You had some guys who had barely trained in 10 days in the lead up.

The Warriors game, well that is the Warriors.

Actually that game i thought you guys were going to pull away as well. It was only when Teddy went down that you guys fell apart.

The Warriors game wasn't a very accurate reflection of where we're at. They didn't even play that well, we gifted them 4 tries directly from our handling errors on the goal line.

Also I haven't seen anyone mentioning Robbie. He was enormous yesterday. His best game in ages.

He is just playing so much better. Running it from dummy half. Providing great service. His defence is great. No dumb plays.

This team will be up and down all year, their a young inexperienced team. Their will be great days and bad days, but when they are on they will beat anyone and that has not been the case in a long time. Been a long time since we have given two top four teams a touch up.

I still think on a hard track playing against a fast team that plays expansive football we have some real defensive issue out wide, but gee I love the forwards
