The philosophy of putting the whistle away so that it keeps the game free flowing is flawed. It actually makes it into a worse spectacle when Melbourne and Qld are involved.

Münster was the best on field. Hinchcliffe and Smith not far behind. Taukeiaho was great for the Roosters.

A crap game for 60 mins, at least.

"out played and outcoached" in this case equates to laying all over the ruck at every opportunity and generally just trying to destroy any fluency in the game by any means necessary.

Bellamy's style rugby league is the cornerstone of why league is losing crowds and fans and the basis for all the issues with refereeing and the ruck. Its a negative and shithouse style of play that makes for terrible viewing but gets wins. Every rule change made in the past 3 years has been to try and discourage teams from adopting this shitty style of play.

Basically tonight was played and refereed like an origin (MMA rucks, no offsides, whistle in the pocket), and our predominantly kiwi side had no idea how to adapt to it. Hargraves is the only forward in the comp that knows

Peobably, but the roosters should be the last side to complain. They way they slow the play the ball down and get away with it is a joke. Either laying all over them, coming up holding the tackled player or having hands all over the ball.

Against most sides refs putting the whistle in their pockets will help the roosters, unfortunately for them the side that gets most out of it is the storm.

Have to laugh at Robinson having a cry in the presser.

It's always hilarious when a roosters fan/coach/player complains about unfair treatment.

Don't worry, your accountant will get you back up the top again soon.

melbourne were dominating in alot of tackles and slowed the play-the-ball down legally. they played as a team

Rubbish. They were holding on after the tackle was complete and the player was regaining his feet. That is a penalty... It has been all bloody year. Slowing the game down makes it very ugly. If the next 2 games are like this, I'll skip the rest. I have no interest in watching wrestle in the play the ball. It hasn't been allowed all year, and now the whistle won't be blown for it.

Lol. I thought Robbo was a saint that never blames the ref for losses

Robbo didn't blame the refs for the loss at all. He said that there was more wrestle allowed last night, which is definitely true. He said from the very outset of the press conference that that wasn't good enough from the roosters.

It wasn't the wrestle that was the reason Melb won, it helped. But it was their line speed and pressure they put on Maloney they was the main thing

This.

Storms line speed rattled us and it was disappointing we couldn't adjust to overcome it. Disappointing performance all round for us but thankfully we go again next week. We can play so much better than that.

Well done storm, good win for sure.

Yes it's been allowed.

Roosters do it every week!!!!

Storm do it the best though so Roosters were outclassed.

and tomorrow you'll be whinging when you get found out against Cronulla who also have a tendency to be grubby in the ruck

Souths can get grubby in the ruck too.

We will hopefully play them at their own game.

Cecchin is refing the match and Sharks and Souths fans know he's an idiot already!

Lets all face it, the Storm winning was a great result for the NRL in general. I mean, the blatant disregard for the salary cap, and the limitless use of TPA's by the Roosters is a farce. The joke regarding TPA'S has become soooo obvious that the NRL is in the process of changing the whole structure and usage of TPA'S.

Well done the Storm, a win which, if for nothing else, is morally good for the game. A team assembled for @ $10million losing to a team chock full of no names, and up and comers, augurs well for the potential transparency required within the game, and the salary cap, into the future.
