Origin is the pinnacle of RL. End of story.
Maybe you could make sure it stays the pinnacle and most of the world's best players are involved by opening up the selection rules so that Kiwis can play too. Maybe you could even change the format so that instead of just two states, it's a team full of Kiwis against a team full of Aussies. That would be a great Origin contest, huh?

NZ and Australia are conjoined as far as I'm concerned, rivalry is no more or less between the two than it is between NSW/Qld. To say Origin is the pinnacle is short sighted, it once helped Australia prepare for games against NZ but now NZ use the Premiership competition that Origin denigrates to prepare for Australia

Now we have our brother across the ditch on an equal footing it's easier to dismiss them from being part of the so-called pinnacle than beat them . . . the new pinnacle of Rugby League is the NEW NZ against Australia

Great night. Wonderful to see the Kiwis win so comprehensively. Australia just weren't in it.

Forgettable nights for Dugan and Inglis.

We probably shouldn't see Bird, Lewis, Tamou or Myles in international football again.

I felt (as I have for a while) that NZ were as good, if not better than the Aussies up front. Bromwich and Matulino > Scott and Woods. My nerves were out wide, particularly the centres. I have never really rated SKD, but he continues to step up in the black jersey. Nightingale (that awful offload aside) likewise. Hiku played pretty well. I hope all the of the mugs who lampoon Vatuvei every chance they get were watching last night (they probably weren't- they only watch highlight packages)- another stellar performance in black and white.

Also, I must say that from what I've seen, the Aussies on here have been tremendously sporting. Well done.

Huh? Clueless doesnt even begin to describe you

I applaud the kiwis for their win. They were fantastic

Still has nothing to do with SOO and the pathetic way some kiwis and poms have brought it up for some unknown, pathetic, insecure, geniused reason

c'mon freak read it properly

IMO we should get the old out of this team asap. Kiwis are clearly number 1 so lets rebuild starting with a new coach. Keep Smith around but start selecting either Segeyaro or Friend aswell to get them used to the set up. DCE has to become our starting halfback. If GI wants to play FB for the Roos he can start putting in 100percent effort or go back to lazing around in the centres. Lewis, Tamou, Bird and Myles are all done at this level imo, lets get some new blood in that forward pack we look weaker and slower than the kiwis.

Sheens though is the biggest problem. The whole attack the roos are running looks very structured and Melbourne like. I'd say Smith, cronk and slater are the real driving forces between how the roos attack which is boring and predictable. The AUS side looks like they are still playing at the same level as 5 years ago meanwhile the kiwis have come on in leaps and bounds.

Just reading through Barry Tooheys player ratings of the game on Foxsports.com.au

He gave Inglis 6.5 ?!?!?!.... If you go off the logic of '5' being an average game then how how did this dipsh*t come to the conclusion that Inglis had a slightly above average game? What the f**k was he watching?

Inglis had an absolute bludger, I'm sure even he would admit that. Just because he is a champion of the game doesn't mean he is somehow immune from criticism when he deserves it, a 3/10 would have been generous.

Worst score he gave anyone were a couple of 4.5 out of 10, Toohey if you are going to use a scale of 1-10 then use it properly, are you afraid you are going to hurt the players feelings? Or that they will hunt you down for being critical? you are a journalist grow a pair!!! annoys the hell out of me.

In conclusion Toohey is a soft merkin and Dave Dobbyn -> Cold Chisel

My favourite review:

Johnathan Thurston: “A” for effort. Under plenty of pressure and never stopped probing. 7

He's just such a competitor! No-one else got an A for effort :crazy:

I laughed so hard when I saw that!
He was reminiscent of Kurt Gidley on ANZAC day, or Pearce in all of his origin matches. They both get bagged out yet Thurston gets a 7 and an 'A' for effort lmao

Didn't watch City v Country? Moylan's defence was horrible - no where near the best fullback in the comp until that improves

f**king lol. You spastics been ignoring the great GI's defensive efforts this year??? Moylan and most of the fullbacks in the comp have Inglis covered there.

Take the brain explosion out of it, and name one defensive mistake from inglis last night? He still saved two tries, safe under the high ball, and wasn't out muscled in tackles in his worse game ever. He still has moylan covered for now
