Less than two years. If another team ain't added until 2028 then they will have five years to cement their roster.
Assuming it’s 2027 they will have 2 and a bit years to get ready

the other teams will have longer to prepare

Perth won’t need stadium upgrades or an athletes village to start the nrl unlike png

plus good chance they get bennnett

They should be ok in what team they can put together

Why?

population close to a million and they will provide unlimited noa nadrukus and semi radraras into the nrl

combined with samoa and tonga even more so
Thats just one part of a multitude of kpi's.
The biggest being long term financial sustainability for any new club plus what they bring to the overall pot for NRL and its clubs. How does Fiji look in those areas?

Nrl grant to be 19.5 million
Salary cap 12.5 million

heck an nrl team in west hull would be feasible

with the new tv deal clubs will get even more out of the Arlc and good luck to them

any potential location will be feasible purely just from the nrl grant

they don’t have to generate the same income as the broncos to be able to spend the full cap

this also applies obviously to png nz2 Perth or fiji

yes the grant is hefty and going up but clubs still need to compete with each other as well as grow their business and are spending $15mill plus on top of the grant. That is ongoing revenue any new club needs to find from sponsors and fanbase.

Its nonsense to suggest we will get to a point anytime soon where the NRL grant is totally covering all operational costs.

No ones talking about Broncos level revenue, but they will need to generate sharks or tigers level as a min.

It's not just about how much time they have to assemble their roster for their debut season. They need time to consolidate and strengthen their roster so they can be competitive over their first five years and don't fall in a heap like the Titans. V'landys is proposing is for 60 players to be taken away from existing clubs over a period of 2 or 3 years. That will ensure that the bottom clubs stay where they are and dilute the quality of the competition. It's a recipe for disaster.

I doubt it, they wouldnt have a chance, the WA govt has already said it prefers not to see them in Perth.
NRL isnt going to go against the State govt and risk losing the funding for pathways, not to mention could you imagine the fan and media response here if a Sydney team got in over a local Perth bid?

I reckon if its a no to the Perth Bears they might resurrect the Pacifika idea as last gasp hope to give the NRL an alternative to PNG, maybe even linking with the Fiji bid.

They wouldn't be successful but they seem to think they are important.

Nah the nrl is only going back to the number of teams it had 30 years ago

for twenty years they added two teams

This is all about the tv deal which will pay for this expansion but unlike afl league has the player pool it can tap into

So Matt claims other people had no life, but is now trying to dox people because we all called him an alt and made him look dumb.
Talk about looking dumb.

What is doxing?
Doxing is a form of cyberbullying that uses sensitive or secret information, statements, or records for the harassment, exposure, financial harm, or other exploitation of the intended victim.

I haven't meet any of that criteria.

Why would Foxtel pay more for teams in Port Moresby and Suva?

Foxtel is only available to Australian residents.

Ch9 won't want teams from Port Moresby and Suva.
