Currently the Aust Govt is paying them $5m for junior development. If that continues, The NRL grant is $3m over the cap.
NRL cover travel for the teams

Then how much more do they need on a year on year basis?

Players aren't the only costs a club has. Otherwise every other team would be profiting 10s of millions of dollars a year.

Yes they are going to be building a 400 room Hilton hotel to house the players

the stupidity never ceases

The resort Storm stayed at for Covid is a more realistic comparison. The one on Sunshine cost is getting renovated. $120m - probably double that if you are starting from scratch.

Parra is next side to have a CoE. There's is $53m

Well under the $600m figure

Yeah but likely have import stuff.

My point is the NRL would of done their homework.

They have got money in this and are in a decent size money hole in revenue if it falls down.

Mariners is a reflection of cc economy then northern fury is a reflection of north qld economy
Mariners are the only national sports team on the Central Coast.

Fury were competing with the Townsville Crocodiles and North Queensland Cowboys for corporate support. It didn't help that the Fury were playing out of an open stadium in a tropical city during the wet season.

That would actually be the smart move after about 4-5 years into the project.
I can see PNG doing the dirty on Albo the Spazzo. If PNG were to sign a secret deal with China mid-season in 2027 -- provided they're in the competition by then -- then that would leave the NRL in a horrible position. Aus Gov could take back the money they're providing. That would require the ARLC to chip in $25m a year to keep the team afloat. They couldn't allow it to fall over because it would render the broadcast deal null and void.

Soccer in Australia is a summer sport

so competing with nrl is minor

nice try though

Hopefully China can build them an 80k national stadium for the team to play in

The last time I was flying around PNG in helos there was a fatal stabbing at Port Jackson airfield and they burnt down our motel.
We used to call Red Rooster in Port Moresby the "Stab & Stop" shop.
Riots would start in the streets just because 2 dogs were fighting.
I felt safe though in our barricaded fortress with corrupt ex cops acting as our security who frequented rascal trading grounds at night.

A former PNG RL player was killed by a politician at a nightclub.

It was competing with the Cowboys for sponsors in an RL dominant market. It was also competing directly with the Townsville Crocodiles.

Central Coast Mariners have zero competition from RL and basketball for sponsors.

Sharks would back stab the NRL like they did in the Arl. China vs Sharks who cares.

And yet Newcastle can support both soccer and rugby league lol
