Well if the bears a making a truckload playing out of north Sydney oval that says something doesn’t it

Comparatively to PNG, yes they are more likely to make more money in Sydney but that’s just simple economics. That’s because PNG is a third world country. You could put a side in most places in Australia and New Zealand and it will make more money than it would in PNG. That simply doesn’t mean that we could or should put a side in these places.

We should definitely not be putting another side in NSW or having more games in Sydney. It’s absolutely ludicrous. We also shouldn’t really be thinking about a side in PNG either but here we are.

Ten years of govt support isn’t enough imo

20 would be ideal and that’s what the arlc must demand

I don’t understand this perspective at all. Let’s say you bring in PNG and NZ 2. That covers your player development angle which I think is seriously overemphasised here in any case. So that should take out another Brisbane side from that angle in the near future.

Then what? I don’t see the point in replicating what you did in NSW by putting a side in every little square inch. Why make the Dolphins, Titans and the Broncos smaller (which you inevitably will) by continually adding sides there? I don’t see the business sense. Fair enough in 15-20 years (maybe) but why in the next five to ten?

We should go to NZ and Perth and actually expand the game commercially before we even think about consolidating again.

Those 2 should be next, Then where is set up for team 20?

You also need to cash in on the corporates that will focus on Brisbane post Olympics

Have you not read what they have said or are you ignoring it? No side and I mean no side suggests that they have to play home games in another location when they are meant to be representing somewhere else. It just doesn’t happen anywhere else and the reason why they are doing it is to simply shift their way back to North Sydney in the future.

Why would or should any location take that offer? I get the nostalgia perspective and the pro-Sydney thing but look at it the other way why would a person in NZ, Perth, PNG, Adelaide etc really buy into this club when they know this club doesn’t want to be there and at the first opportunity will take it back to where they want to be located?

Like seriously imagine if Penrith were trying to get a club and they brought back say the Crushers and moved them there? As part of the deal also they’ll take four games away from Penrith and play them in Brisbane. Would you take this prospective club seriously or would you see it for what it is?

No one is forcing anyone the join with the Bears though, Nor are the Bears not bringing anything to the table. Or the Firehawks if they base themselves in Brisbane.

Both clubs have

U17's
U19's
U21's
Open aged team.

That allows them to send the best kids over to play against other elite kids of the same age.

Not to worry about setting it up or the logistics of it but more importantly the finances of such a thing.

As for the 2 games.

Depends how many they think is viable to have on the Islands.

PNG
Samoa
Tonga
Fiji
Magic Round
Should host Warriors in NZ.
Broncos in Brisbane

A West Sydney team in Comm bank - to tap into the islander population.

That still leaves 4 Home games to allocate.

So again no one is forcing anything but these deals come with trade offs.

Storm do produce juniors
We need to send a rocket up them
They're become to complacent
And the Victorian government
Need a rivalry in Melbourne
So it doesn't Go stale
Last year there were 9k senior and junior players here in Vic. We may get the very rare player that goes on to the NRL but it’s definitely not sustainable and definitely needs a lot more work

The development could be done with literally anybody in Queensland Cup for example.

Face it mate. The only reason anybody is talking up the Bears is because the Sydney media want it. Blokes who think about Sydney and maybe at a stretch Queensland.

Also, it doesn’t look like anybody is seriously jumping up and down at their offer. They are prostituting themselves to everybody at this point in time.

I just want you to think about it from the other side: if a side was plonked in Penrith and supposedly they were representing Penrith but they had to play 2-6 home games somewhere else, would you accept it? You can’t ask somebody to accept something that you wouldn’t yourself.

Also the whole point of a relocation and expansion is for the new area (Perth, Adelaide, NZ etc) to accept you, not Sydney.

Which is also why I don't get the big rush to get a half arsed png team into the NRL

Theoretically we should already be getting the best PNG players into Aus fed through the hunters, do they have a feeder arrangement with any clubs? If not they should.

What would a team based in North Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, etc with PNG slapped onto the brand and the odd token game there do to drastically change anything?

Tell the government any money would be better spent improving port moresby's sporting and security infrastruction, maybe a high performance centre, then base a fully fledged team there when the city can safely and financially support one
