Interesting article. If it’s Pacific Islands, NZ 2 and Perth that’s ok. Not the best combination but it’s at least not picking another couple of Queensland sides.
I agree. The Storm chairman wasn’t happy with the suggestion and whilst there is evidently self interest in that point, the points he made against it are correct.
Maybe in 20 years when the population down there is something like 7 or 8 million then sure look at it then but right now it would be like GWS.
I don’t think we should be having another team based in Sydney. That is pretty ridiculous. We should forget about the Bears really - if they can’t even consider letting go of playing some ‘home’ games in Sydney then they shouldn’t be considered. If they can arrange away games against other Sydney teams to be played at NSO that’s a different story but not home games.
team 19 or 20 should be Brisbane, depends how quick they get accepted
Storm do produce juniorsI think Storm still have a stack of work to do, Don't even produce juniors yet. Not sure what Melbourne 2 adds
You need the support an existing club brings, If not Bears than Brisbane Easts. You have finances and a name to get people on to, Not sure a brand new nomad club works otherwise
Like Fitzroy lions relocation to BrisbaneNor does a side meant to be playing or representing somewhere but with aspirations of playing somewhere else.

South Melbourne bloods to Sydney Swans
A league looking at a Canberra and a NZ 2 teams
AFL looking at a 3rd Perth team
Why?
You are reading too much into it, They need a single training base.
That needs to in or close enough to NSW or QLD to run lower grades into.
That is all it is
It’s a given png won’t be based in pngHave you not read what they have said or are you ignoring it? No side and I mean no side suggests that they have to play home games in another location when they are meant to be representing somewhere else. It just doesn’t happen anywhere else and the reason why they are doing it is to simply shift their way back to North Sydney in the future.
Why would or should any location take that offer? I get the nostalgia perspective and the pro-Sydney thing but look at it the other way why would a person in NZ, Perth, PNG, Adelaide etc really buy into this club when they know this club doesn’t want to be there and at the first opportunity will take it back to where they want to be located?
Like seriously imagine if Penrith were trying to get a club and they brought back say the Crushers and moved them there? As part of the deal also they’ll take four games away from Penrith and play them in Brisbane. Would you take this prospective club seriously or would you see it for what it is?
Because it is a RL heartland and still growing.
GC are south
Dolphins North
Brisbane middle
Ipswich/Western Corrider
Gives you coverage of Brisbane, Remembering there were 3 good business plans for team 17.
We are talking 10 years, Not sure Adelaide will be ready then.
I think 2032 likely gets pushed out 5-10 years, That then brings them into play. The end game would be 24 teams. Likely has a CQLD side with Adelaide too but that is way down the line
Melbourne BearsIt’s a given png won’t be based in png
north Sydney is a better option than cairns or anywhere else

Adds financial support for png too and sales of season tickets to bears fan will be extra revenue and sponsorship from north SydneyMaybe. I don’t think they should be considered at all. F*** this nostalgia garbage.
But if they have to come back and save Rugby League (sarcasm btw) then this option might be the only one that could work (although I would say that PNG would get sick of them eventually - it might just take a little longer)
If you tried to do this model for an Australian or New Zealand team, supporters would essentially reject it and quickly.

Well if the bears a making a truckload playing out of north Sydney oval that says something doesn’t itMaybe but what happens if these little North Sydney adventures earns lots of money for them (and they will earn more compared to PNG for obvious reasons). They then start trying to take more and more games away from PNG?
This is the big difference between what the Lions and Swans did in the fumbles and what the Bears are proposing? You don’t see the Swans or Lions saying we have to play home games in South Melbourne or Fitzroy. Those clubs fully relocated and actually became a Sydney and Brisbane club.
You can’t half arse something, particularly a relocation. If they are not willing to actually commit to the relocation they shouldn’t be considered at all.
