We can mock GWS ,with valid stats.The Tv deal was one thing (and again the comparisons on many points are dubious such as timing, teams, markets and contract expiry dates) , however the perpetual pouring of money into the Gnats and getting little in return is another.
The AFL basically responded to Sheedy's optimistic comments in effect, Western Sydney is ripe for an AFL team, because a lot of people want it and there's 3 billion people living there.

Imagine if Southampton had 2.2million people, drew 20k plus to SL games and sold out RL events in a 60k stadium, had millionaires willing to back them, a decent stadium, 4k people playing the game and a Govt willing to support it all. Then yeh Id hope to see Southampton in SL! In fact if they had what perth has theyd get an A license and straight into the top comp lol

1. the reds never failed, they were a victim of circumstance
2. big Rl games draw 100k FTA viewers in Perth, neither you nor I know how many are watching regular NRL in perth
3. Crowd avg over last decade for NRl games 16.7k, above NRl crowd avg
4. THIS Govt is fully committed and spending money now to get the right bid together
5. NRL isnt Super Rugby, doh!
6. That was 25 years ago, yr1 before SL sht hit Reds crowds were pretty good. In their 3 years of existence they NEVER finished bottom of crowd avg and beat a number of Sydney clubs EVERY season they existed.
