Steelers were definitely influenced by the NFL. The original logo had a bloke wearing an American football helmet and shoulder pads.

Dumbest logo in the history of Australian sport.

I rented a house with a kitchen that was same colours as raiders green lol. Hurt my head every time I cooked in there!
I love the Lime green, there isn't many sports clubs that will go and promote themselves with a unique color... mostly due to business reasons, but canberra have recently been trying to step away from the lime... which is a massive mistake, but i get why they are doing it.. i dont agree with it, but i get it..
The Melbourne Storm is the pinacle of what sports teams should do, promote the shit out of a unique color (like Purple) but wrap it around Navy, Black or White, this is where the tigers (Orange) and Raiders (Lime) should be doing, it might get other teams to go bold and embrace something different, Penrith (Brown or Pink)
Broncos and Eels (Yellow) and Cowboys (silver/grey) the game needs less boring navy only, white only or black only kits

Cue someone to suggest each club do a 'colour rush round' kit again...

Reckon McClaren orange and light blue, aka gulf racing colours would be good for a tropical team, should have been cowboys!

If they go to team 19 then 20 will inevitably follow, and they could really have an impact with team 20 if they are willing. At the moment their only realistic options in Australia for a 20th team are Perth, Adelaide, or Canberra. The talk you here of a 'Northern Australia' NT/Cairns team is pie in the sky BS, Newcastle simply isn't ready to support an AFL team, and they won't risk the impact that more teams in SEQ or Sydney would have on the Lions, Suns, and GWS yet.

Of those realistic options odds are that they'll choose Perth because it's the safest option and they'll probably want to avoid the costs of having to financially support another club, however if they are willing to take on the extra financial burden and add Canberra it'll really shake the football market up.

Lets put it this way; if Canberra got an AFL team it'd be as big as the Raiders, if not bigger, from day one...
Apparently Canberra was an Aussie Rules city prior to the Raiders and Brumbies arrival

Dont know everyone is worried about the 18th team

Simple it will be the CC Bears with 3 games at NSO

Allows Easts to Adelaide 3 games at the SFS
And Wests to Perth 3 games at Leichhardt

Dogs move to Liverpool
Dragons play at the gong with 3 games at Kogarah

so are you saying the NRL will relocate 2 teams out of Sydney just to make way for the Bears? hahahahaha

We really need Vlandys to quit in December and someone with a bit more vision to come in so Perth take the front runner spot that we should be! No doubt in June we will get the usual platitudes and Perth must be next stories during Perth Origin that lead to nothing.

I think what you're suggesting has some merit - though I would tweak the Roosters and Tigers arrangements (and maybe Dragons too) so there's ONE game for each of those teams in their traditional Sydney home each year.. but offer "away memberships" for Sydney fans who'd want to keep following them at their away games in Sydney.

That way you'd have Penrith, Parra, Souths (SFS), Manly, Cronulla, Bulldogs (Liverpool) all at their own stadiums - all either new builds or upgraded.. with the Bears in Gosford.. AND Perth & Adelaide & the Dolphins - and all with an 18 team competition.

Next step after that would be adding Brisbane 3 (Probably Jets), and NZ 2 (Christchurch).. and with 20 teams we'd be set for some time.

[Edit] ANOTHER good thing about this is that it makes Stadium Australia tenant-less.

Then the NRL can say to the NSW Govt "hey, we can move some blockbuster games there.. but we're gonna need a redevelopment or rebuild if you want us to use it..."

Well, this is the expansion forum after all.. where dreams run free & brainstorming is a way of life ;)

I know it takes some suspension of disbelief.. but as far as "what if" ideas go, it has some merit. Even if there's a snowballs chance that the NRL will grow a pair and move towards club relocation to solve the geographical imbalance.
