I’d prefer ‘the Venetian Blinds’.Nineteenth team - Venice Gondoliers. They made them an offer the NRL couldn't refuse.

A great local derby with the Singapore Toothbrushes but I'm not sure how they'd get the aircraft carrier up the canals.I’d prefer ‘the Venetian Blinds’.
All the most successful expansion clubs in Australian sports history have been big independent metropolitan clubs where there was proven demand before hand, not promoted suburban clubs.
If we set relocations to one side, the WC Eagles, Brisbane Broncos, Adelaide Crows, Melbourne Storm, and Western Sydney Wanders, are probably the gold standard of expansion teams in Australian sport. So why wouldn't you copy that mould, instead of the promotion mould that's had mixed results at best?
Of course the answer is that your assertion that promoted teams are safer bets is just a post hock rationalisation to justify your personal preference for "traditional" clubs, and you don't actually care what's best for the sport or league as a whole.
Would Brisbane Tigers fans watch the Perth Firehawks and think of it as their team?
This is a pretty uninteresting conversation. It is also pretty obvious regarding the bias here.
One says that a Perth team will dominate and that there are no other good bids and the other is saying the same thing about a second New Zealand side.
By the way, I think both should be in a prospective 20 team competition
Logo is a pair of sunnysI’d prefer ‘the Venetian Blinds’.
A combination of their own stupidity and news ltdsThey didn’t struggle, they never finished bottom, never had the smallest crowds and we’re building a decent club. A combination of ARL stupidity and a civil war did for them. Gws hasn’t fac3d any of that and in fact quite the opposite.
blah blah blah
You guys went to SL after just being invited to join the competition. The Sharks did it out of desperation because they were in line for the chopping block. because of managerial incompetenceThey didn’t struggle, they never finished bottom, never had the smallest crowds and we’re building a decent club. they went because ARL imposed stupid travel payment costs on the Reds then at the 11th hour doubled down on that stupidity by adding a third grade for them to pay for.You guys went to SL after just being invited to join the competition. If Perth had not decided to go SL ,we may not have ended up sh*t street. How about you man up and admit Murdoch sucked you in .Your crowds dropped off when you went to SL ,that's gratitude for you.
GWS faced having another AFL club in Sydney for fans, you had no such issues with a RL to draw fans from.Blah blah.
Good to see you back old friend. Things in Tassie remain moribund footy wise. But I still have beer and I still have our Sharks!
But but you had the financial support ATT by wealthy individuals.Yeah you went short term and what did it get you.The flickeroo in the end.they went because ARL imposed stupid travel payment costs on the Reds then at the 11th hour doubled down on that stupidity by adding a third grade for them to pay for. That’s what drove the Reds into news ltd arms. News ltd offered a massive sponsorship deal which solved Reds sudden money problems and the rest is history.
They went for what they thought was best at the time, from what Ive been told by a board member at the time it was incredibly acrimonious and the board was evenly split on which way to go. I’m not sure staying with ARL would have saved them anyway. The game was stupid and short sighted to cut perth, we had 10k registered players at the time, but that’s rugba league for you.But but you had the financial support ATT by wealthy individuals.Yeah you went short term and what did it get you.The flickeroo in the end.
So why did news ltd kill them off and allow Cronulla into the nrl ?they went because ARL imposed stupid travel payment costs on the Reds then at the 11th hour doubled down on that stupidity by adding a third grade for them to pay for.
The busines model was done on two grades and Reds board from the time have said they could have managed that. The adding of the third grade, at a cost of around $200k a year which was massive back in 1995, put them in a major hole. That’s what drove the Reds into news ltd arms. News ltd offered a massive sponsorship deal which solved Reds sudden money problems and the rest is history.
would they have been better to stay with ARL? Who knows. Hopefully the 25 year old mistake of cutting perth from the game will soon be put right like it has just been for the crushers being cut.
One of life’s great mysteries! Such a rugba league decision to make.So why did news ltd kill them off and allow Cronulla into the nrl ?

haha troll done good. Back to watching your embarrassment of a club matey. So it sounds like the Western Reds were the greatest team in the competition, were as rich as Barcelona FC, had more fans than the New York Yankees and were about to go on a premiership run that would have made the St George Dragons effort look secon rate when they were culled from the competition due to incompetence and jealousy.
