I remember when I first mentioned png as a potential side I was ridiculed by the so called experts on here

only guys like @MugaB, @Pippen94 and @Iamback got it

a lot of the so called discussion on the expansion forums is just bs

I always knew a png nrl team was a strong priority for the alp after afl fan shorten committed to it albo was always going to follow

There's no winners in this bid.



PNG still rely on overseas aid to prop up their social issues. It will be the rich and corrupt who will be sitting watching this team, flying to Australia for away games no doubt.



The Australian tax payer certainly isn't a winner. It is your tax money that will fund this team and the NRL.

The NRL isn't a winner either, they are now beholden to politicians, basically they are whores.

It does look like the NRL want a PNG Pasifika team in. I don't agree with it. Meanwhile Perth has to make alot of noise right now, or they will miss out.

Also is everyone on the commission on board with a PNG-PASIFIKA club coming in?

I can't reply to wb directly.

But I have no interest in afl including dick measuring competitions on government funding.
If you're interested in afl good luck to you, but I can't see the relevance to the nrl granting an 18th licence and that sport.

Vlandys could push back and say it’s only png and I suspect the govt would agree

it looks like ownership of the team will be split between png and samoa and tonga

adding samoa and tonga on it is a bad move imo

It will be a crap move. Not only will the team have so much flying to do, just for home games, but it will also have multiple home grounds, just like the Wests Tigers- St.George Illawarra, who are both in a mess.

And on top of that, you are inviting division, factions within a club. A Tongan official may have different self interests compared to a league administrator in PNG.

If it's just PNG, and have potentially two home bases, one in PNG, and the other in Cairns, then It might be ok.
