Channel nine isn’t interested in Canberra even today

as usual your just making stuff up

the federal govt money makes png one of the strongest clubs

and Wayne bennett will probably be coach

so you will be wrong in the same way you said the dolphins would be a failure
If PNG got a team, they'd best get Adrian Lam to coach with his son playing half back.
The pair are currently killing it in sl elevating Liegh from promotion to half way up the SL ladder.
Lam and Olam are your marquee players.

You think they aren't interested in Canberra or Townsville.

Then PNG would give them a derection, it would be the polar opposite of interested. Its TV value is nothing x nothing.

So for this to happen:

Government has to guarantee 25 million minimum pa for 50 years.
(Minimum).
I haven't seen anything on the news about that being put to policy and it is political suicide. The moment it's mentioned it will be shut down.
Australian's are struggling and you want to pay for a football team?
Come on.
I think at this stage it's lip service to keep the option open.
Yep.

Nobody cares about that.

Super rugby have pacifika teams. Seems like a lot of xenophobia.
Nobody cares about Australian tax payers money supporting millionaire footballers?

I've no idea what your last point it is about (care to elaborate?)

This is all really good business by V'Landys. Driving up the intrest and desirability.
Any press is good press and the NRL are getting loads out of this for $0
1 day all over the page of the west Australian, then Brisbane, ok now PNG. Only bit of bait that missed was Adelaide.
NRL headquarters won't be looking to end the speculation any time soon.

Yes this is just a conspiracy to get wa to offer more lmao

the theories people come up with to keep their expansion vision alive is really funny

the article says they are pushing for 20 teams by 2032 that’s when Perth will get a team so the delay will only be a few years

I don't understand how people can be this ignorant of their closest neighbour.

What happens when the grants stop?
They will be so strong financially it won’t matter

they are either going to link up with Brisbane tigers or north Sydney

thanks for the concern

There's generating money and then there's pimping yourself out.
It's worse than that.

Not only would they be whoring themselves out, but they'd be doing it at the expense of some of the poorest people on the planet.

It's honestly disgusting when you think about it.

Ok I’ll spoon food you

I said it won’t matter they will be financially viable by then

then I told you why because norths or Brisbane tigers will be joining the bid
Ok I'll spoon feed it to you.

It won't be viable in PNG once the club loses it's government grants, which is an inevitability. So even if the Bears or Easts are involved it'll only be a matter of time before they have to find 10s of millions of dollars a season overnight, or be forced to relocate out of PNG or fold the club.

At that point you have a minor international incident no matter what happens. Do you want to be the one to tell the Papuans that you're taking their club away? It's a ticking time bomb, and the results are totally negative for the NRL.

Having another club involved and playing half or more of their games outside of PNG undermines the whole concept of a PNG side anyway. The club will just be a glorified Sydney or Brisbane club if the Bears or Easts are involved, with only a token presence in PNG that isn't intended to continue long term. In other words you're just trying to backdoor another Sydney or Brisbane club into the competition at that point.
