Funny all the super leaguers saying Sydney teams holding game back & but now running to borrow cred from clubs that have been out of league for decades. Oh the irony
The thing is - and I can't state this clearly enough -

PERTH ***SHOULDN'T** HAVE TO DO THIS

They shouldn't have to saddle-up with old NSW clubs to get on the radar.

The NRL leadership is so conservative & NSW-centric that the Perth bid have to do this.. or rather they *feel* they have to do this.

Why? Because the conservative & NSW-centric leadership has FAILED to do anything towards a Perth NRL team in 25 years but give lip-service to them, and the odd origin & club game - and even then, the club games are as much (more?) driven by the clubs than the NRL itself.

Biggest take away from the article for me was right at the end where it said the corporate hospitality for the double header sold out in a week!
Noted that myself. Shows there`s a strong demand from corporates for red-blooded sports like League. Many business types see this as an extension of their company ethos and some macho fantasy about the corporate world.

Of course they shouldn`t but if such a conservative approach avoids the fiasco of the ego driven optimism in some of the expansion efforts of our rival, then so be it.
Good thing is, if structured right, the new license can always ditch the junior partner if they outgrow them.

We don’t have any details of any Perth deal at all on the table yet we have dozens of pages of analysis criticising it and praising it. Most amusing.

Combine that with an expected 40k+ crowd and it really just proves Perth must be the 18th team for mine.

The rest of the article is nonsense though, any potential Sydney club tie up should only be entertained if it brings a strong brand and junior pathways that helps bring WA players through.
There should be absoloutely no home games played outside of WA, but like the article mentions, a Sydney membership should be sold for away games and ideally games against big Sydney rivals should be played at the new SFS.

Lol, one off game proves nothing, especially when wa tourism talking about the number of ppl flying in.

If they were strong wouldn't need to do this but..

Stupid troll is stupid 😮💨
2 sellout origins, multiple sellouts at HBF park and 2 double headers with whats looking like over 80k combined and sold out corporate support, the real money maker.
Not to mention government support from the highest level and to the amount of millions of dollars to buy the 'one off' games.
When all they get is one off games then supporting them like they have is the best way to show the NRL how deserving of a team they are.

And i don't understand how people wanting to travel across the country as away fans is a negative, seems Perth is a desirable location to go to.

But yeah sure, a similar sport that can also sell out 60k seats is a bad thing is it?
Seems there is a big appetite for sport there in general, why shouldn't the NRL cash in on it?

Because one off big events aren't predictors of how well local team will go. Hence force
