The latest news on newton is very positive for perth as club 18. The momentum is obviously growing and nsw and qlnd second tier clubs are looking at how they can get in on the perth action. No problem at all with jets being WC Pirates feeder club helping us develop nsw talent and keeping them local til ready for step up to nrl In Perth.

what can’t happen is the storm situation where the club thinks because it has feeders on east coast it doesnt have to develop local talent.
You have never been to Newtown have you

just a quick stroll down king st would show you how many rugby league juniors are in that area

Do you think these clubs only draw from their postcode? Sitting second on ladder.
Wonder where all those good players from from ?
Hint look who their feeder club is lmao

jets went bust right after they made a grand final
They had John singleton as owner and he couldn’t make it work

they have no leagues club (went broke) and need financial support to keep the team going but if you think it’s good for Perth good luck

Newtown these days is a suburb full of uni students and people with multiple pronouns

Thats why they've come to us. There will be an expectation the pirates will financially support them and in return they will recruit quality players from across NSW to turn into first grade players for the Pirates without them having to move to perth at a young age.

The only obvious weakness in our bid is immediate player development, Having an in-principal agreement in place with a successful second tier club like Newtown ticks that box nicely.

No need to lose home games, no need to take on a sydney brand, no need to worry about shared ownership conflicts. We have a winner. Jets come on down!

They mentioned they want two home games

I’d leverage newtowns interest to get the right deal from the bears

they have actual juniors and gasp a pokie den

jets is a better name than bears tho

Given they e got no fans and no ground it would make no commercial sense for them to host two perth home games in sydney

bears won’t budge on the license ownership. It’s why they will continue to be a second tier club until there is no second tier then roosters will just take over the regions jnrs, a they should.

whilst a perth club would havee to invest more funds into Newtown than they would bears as a feeder club it’d be worth it to maintain our own brand, all games in perth and full ownership.

There’s zero brand value in the jets brand. There is no way we will end up with a club called perth jets lol
no the whole point, from their point of view. is to keep newton jets in existence as a second tier or reserve grade club.
jets offer nothing beyond a pathway feeder arrangement And have no bargaining power.

Maybe you should read the article and see what jets actually said without just making up what you want to happen

Maybe you should, there was no direct quotes from the jets lol

if jets rocked up to wa govt and said we’ll come and play ten games in perth if you give us loads of money they would have been laughed out of town. They could well have done that in which case they’ve wasted their time. WA govt will back a WA bid first and foremost. If you dont know that you dont know how parochial WA is.
