I don’t think it would have any damage. It would only enhance the product with true NSW v Qld fixtures instead of the farcical version we get today. The standard would be anrguably identical.

If someone is proud enough to represent another country, that’s great, give them the opportunity to do that more often on a bigger stage.

I don’t want to see NSW and Qld made up of mercenaries. I don’t care about All Stars matches. I want the best Australians from NSW and Qld playing.
Please explain how the state of origin players are mercenaries now, i feel like you see kids that GROW up in this country, at a young age automatically aren't Queenslanders or New South Welsh man..
Whats the prerequisite? Does Steven Chricton have to denounce playing for Samoa at international level, before he can put on a blues jersey? Even though he is brought up in Minchenbury, and played his whole life in that area? Must he be of white skin, how does this all work in your mind? Does Victor Radley not play for his heritage in Great Brittan coz he grew up in Bondi

As usual Perth red talking bs again as to why there’s no cba
“Under the RLPA proposal, only Australian players get paid from the player payment pool that has been negotiated. Only Australia-New Zealand Tests and World Cup matches for Australia are included in the CBA. Everything else is outside the player payment pool and has to be agreed separately.
Loading
The NRL says this is holding back the development of the international game. The NRL wants internationals played each year after the grand final and hosted in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific during a four-week period. They believe this would leave enough space for increased annual leave and would not affect the NRL pre-season.

The NRL wants equal payments for all NRL and NRLW contracted players from all countries. The NRL says player payments come out of the payment pool in the CBA, and the creation of a three or four-team international competition each year with a final would be exciting for fans, provide prizemoney for players and funding for the international game.”

Tonga should be playing here against Samoa

England just had a World Cup we don’t need to keep supporting such a poorly performing league

England should play France or wales and stop
Relying on nrl talent to fill the void in their game

I know you've got the reputation of being the forum idiot.

But this takes the cake.

I am glad you brought up Victor, because he is not eligible for NSW anymore because he has represented a “tier 1” nation. So you are satisfied with some non-Australian representatives being ineligible for SOO and others being eligible simply based on what country they were born in? Don’t play the high and mighty card with me.

If Stephen Crichton wants to represent Samoa, then I encourage that, but I want to see the sport encourage high standard representative opportunities.

This means giving the Samoans and the rest of the Pacific Islanders a regular stage that is big enough to represent their individual countries alongside SOO which would be available for players declaring themselves up for Kangaroos selection.

I don’t understand why fans of the sport wouldn’t want to see three consecutive weekends of high level SOO and Pacific test matches selling out Eden Park. It would be far more enjoyable than watching the existing 8 weeks of half bit NRL we put up with.

Yeah, this is not in question everyone wants a good representation for internationals and origin, again i asked what makes stephen Crichton, hamiso fiddow, or jerome Luai not eligible for NSW or QLD, just coz they opt to represent samoa, are they mercs in your eyes?? Do they need to be born of the country to be eligible? Or are they not allowed to have come from a mixed race family like andrew fafita was, where is the lines you've put up to define the difference between being an origin player and a player representing their heritage... thats why i brought up Victor radley

You cannot be a NSWelshmen or Queenslander without being Australian. It really is that simple and no amount of critical theory, standpoint epistemology, and junk sociological rationalisations for having your cake and eating it too will change that.

Frankly, I think it's more than fair to say that a lot of NSW current struggles can be put down to a bunch of their players, who neither really understand or care about the culture or history of NSW or Queensland, not having their heart in it and only being there for the pay check.

Some of them make that clear through their actions as well, cough Luai cough.

I didn't even come close to saying that lol. Why don't you try addressing the actual argument.

Luai incites the reaction he gets then complains about it, he's basically the living embodiment of that meme of the person flinging shit over the wall then complaining when some gets flung back.

There was a discussion about knowing when you have reached your peak in how many teams to have in a competition. Might be when you see two teams on the same weekend concede 70 (or near enough)

A few Queensland clubs have got towelled this year as well. Dolphins had 50 put on them and Cowboys had 66 put on them.

Either way, it doesn’t look good for putting another club in for a while.

Hence why Player development needs to be a huge priority for the next team

You’d have to look at previous seasons to compare avg winning margin and have a couple of seasons of data to see if adding the 17th club has changed things.

again though the real problem is nrl not having any long term strategy or investment in new talent, in fact we’ve slashed grassroots funding over last few years so where we think greater depth of player talent is going to come from only pistol Pete could say. Oh yes American college football, forgot about that one lol
