There’s always melbourne or Sydney. If you’re up to earn $300k plus at 21 youre not walking away from the game!

I’d say if anything scouting is a bigger issue from some stories I’ve heard about bias.

Sure lots of people play the game there (never actually seen any stats on how many have you?) but most of them are under 5ft 8in and playing in bare feet. They aren’t making nrl anytime soon.

Reality is it’s PI’ers and kiwis by and large out of australian systems making nrl squads.

That’s not what you said though, if you’re good enough at 20 to be picked up by an nrl club anywhere in the country you arent walking away from that potential pay day due to having to leave brisbane.

Shane Richardson cited the percentage of NRL players that are from Queensland. He argued the percentage would be higher if there was another team in Brisbane. I cannot prove or disprove his claim. I think it's possible for a third Brisbane team to pick up players who were overlooked by the other NRL clubs. They may not be the best players in their age division, but could develop into late bloomers who become more than serviceable.

It's also true that juniors from SEQ would prefer to stay close to home to be near their family. The NYC was shut down because young players were committing suicide due to the pressure of being far away from home.
