This is what we need to avoid as a code
That was such a biased article lol. AFL only has one amateur club in Parramatta. Yet the article talked about western sydney, then slipped in further down they only were talking about parra area, then added in touch football as well lol.
Reality is AFL has 17 Jnr clubs across western Sydney, arguably the toughest market in Australia for their sport to crack. Is that good or not for ten years efforts? Is it growing, static or declining? No idea lol.

A-League will easily take over NRL in the next 10 years unless there is the relocation of at least two Sydney clubs and incorporation of all the states of Australia into the league.

SGI Dragons are literally dead if Wollongong gets an A-League team. Wests Tigers already know that MacArthur Bulls are going to overtake them soon.
A-League will never take over NRL in NSW, on the Central Coast home of the current A-League Champions nobody up here knows who even plays for them unless you are a diehard Mariners/soccer fan.
Sure little Johnnys mum may want him to play soccer when his is little so he doesn’t get hurt, but little Johnnys dad will be dead against it unless he has an English or European background.

Rightly or wrongly they have a model that supports expansion and keeps unviable clubs viable on and off the field until they get established.

How do you think PNG will be viable when govt cash runs out? Oh that's right you think it will last forever lol.

How did the Toronto Wolfpack go?

Did the RFL and its clubs leave money aside for the Wolfpack?

Did Hull KR decide to stop being "selfish" and relinquish their spot so the game could expand into a city that has 6.7 million?

Toronto > Perth

Brisbane > Perth

Brisbane > Hull

Hull > Perth

No, but thanks for totally agreeing with me! Unless NRL is willing to underwrite this after the govt cash runs out then PNG will likely go the same way as Toronto, Paris, London etc etc in SL

Good job Perth looks likely to have a strong business case behind it.

It’s not viable though

throwing a billion dollars at teams that aren’t sustainable and hoping one day they turn it around is madness it’s a Ponzi scheme

in terms of players 16 is the maximum number of teams. Ironically that would mean the afl basket cases don’t exist except the lions

The problem with the expansionists is they ignore reality and use selective logic to support their biases.

These dreamers say Adelaide is possible. That's insane and goes against reality. There's no bid. No interest from the NRL in creating a team. No interest from the broadcasters. No pathways. Small market that's hostile to RL.

Perth is possible, but its lack of juniors and poor value to the FTA component of the broadcast rights work against it. Maxipad and Perth Wreck claim Foxtel will accept this bid because no one knows how many people from Adelaide and Perth watch them on Foxtel/Kayo!

Oh, apparently everyone in Perth who watches RL does so through Kayo, despite 8k of them watching on 9Gem. They don't know how many watch on Kayo, yet they say everyone watches on Kayo because they know some prick who does!

It's dumb logic by these people.

So about 70% of Australia's population? lol
If you had grown up over here you’d understand soccer isn’t really that cool a sport to play, usually the wooses play it, kids who can’t play league or aren’t really in the main groups at schools.
It’s probably the same in the AFL states.
More kids play soccer but as they get older they usually try league when they can make their own decisions.

It'll have to have if we still want a PNG club in 15 years.

"The High Court found that the proposed draft was a restraint of trade, and an interference with a person's right to negotiate their own lives and future and so on.

"Those players were very brave men because they had no financial support and they all put their name on the line, which meant they put their homes on the line, because if they had lost the League would have come after them for costs."

We don’t need a team in Perth

It’s geographically isolated and greatly increases travel costs and times

we have far better options that offer more then Perth

if we got above 20 teams sure Perth can be filler but they aren’t essential to our future

we’ve literally got the example of the afl of what to avoid

My cousin used to be a very good league junior I’d watch him on sundays

then as he grew up and the tackling got harder he gave up and went to soccer

when I was a teen I was too small for league but I comfortably played union

league is easy sitting on the sidelines being an expert but when a 100 kg kid is running right at you it’s not so easy then

shoulder and knee recs are a nightmare to recover from

that’s why soccer junior numbers are so
High because soccer moms only allow their wimpy sons to play it
