and now has 2 clubs to perths none. Putting a third club in whilst ignoring a city growing to bigger than Brisbane is now within next ten years seems nonsensical.

Brisabne3 should be team 20 in a decade or so time when the city can host 3 clubs without cannabilisng each other.

Brisbane is bigger & growing at higher % in 2021. Where are you getting projection Perth will be bigger?! Was it at time of mining boom?!

Talking about where Perth will be in ten years compared to Brisbane now. The growth rates are pretty much the same but Brisbane has a head start.
Having said that all the rumour here is another massive mining boom is about to hit which will drive growth again like we saw last time. it was nuts last time and the city couldn't cope with such sudden growth and has really only just caught up, I hope we dont get another one like that. Continuing to ignore a a city that is heading to 3.5million people and is arguably the wealthiest place in the country doesnt seem very smart. NSW ran a $8bill deficit budget whilst WA ran a $5.6bill surplus last year and is tipped to achieve an $8billion surplus this year.

Perth’s population is projected to reach by 3.5 million by 2050.

It is also the fastest growing region along with Brisbane

Looking at the demographics of the area, particularly where people are coming from - English, South African and NZ, there is plenty of potential to attract viewers. People like yourself arguing that the game shouldn’t expand beyond NSW/QLD are inadvertently stating that the product is crap and can’t attract anybody new.

There's a thing called maths. Brisbane is bigger by 500k & they growing by same %.
Means gap is widening

Exposure builds fanbase & NRL had highest level of exposure in northern states so logically would've generated more paying customers here

The problem with that point is that you keep dipping into that same fanbase. Eventually you reach saturation point, hence why you need to find new markets and customers.

Imagine assuming most NRL fans subbing to fox are from NRL states?! Crazy I know

That’s not the point I was making. Even if that is true that’s only because you don’t have much representation in those markets. It is analogous to a fast food chain saying they don’t have any customers from a particular suburb when they don’t have any restaurants in that area.

Also you hardly ever counteract with any evidence or analysis to support your views. All your views are assumptions

U missed the point again. Reason why it's unlikely that there's a large number of ppl paying to watch NRL in Perth & Melbourne. Everything about the game suggests that's where most of support is.

I'm not advocating game shouldn't expand to new markets

No one has the hard data. But what Perth red is suggesting goes against every other metric. Most fox subscribers coming from NSW & qld is far more likely.

You also ignored the other evidence put forth. Is it not the fastest growing region alongside Brisbane. Has the population not grown by more than 50% over the last twenty years

It'll need to grow at double that rate to meet 2031 projection. That's why projections are just bullshit.

Your argument is that we should put a team in Brisbane. Nobody would consider that a ‘new market’. A new market is where you put a service or good in an area where you don’t have already have a presence

Most games on Fox and Kayo are now drawing a combined audience of 500k-600k. Its not impossible 50k plus of those are in Melbourne and Perth given how poor FTA covg of the game has been in those cities and therefore more fans will have migrated to PTVT and streaming. . As it is we just dont know.

I’m not disagreeing with you per se that the majority of people watching the game come from NSW and QLD. But your argument is that you can’t attract new supporters from other areas. Any business that has that mindset will eventually fail because all you’ll end up doing is selling to the same customers in the same regions with demographics of that area being the only possible growth point.

population growth is always a best guess, unless you have a crystal ball that actually works! Pandemics, mining booms, climate change, world economics, so many factors at play. All signs are though that Perths growth wont stop and it will reach 3 million in the not too distant future. Seems a obvious place for an NRL team to grow a new market of fans and better engage the existing RL fanbase.
