No- one has been injured or killed in the handful of lower tier rep games played there.

Oh OK then it's all good to go.

Really? You think that's some sort of amazing retort?

That is all that matters from the RLPA point of view. And is likely why the talk is the team being fly in fly out as opposed to living there

Its been floated from the get go, besides you want a guy like wayne bennett or better coach than holbrook, you gotta be atleast in Cairns or Aus for the 1st few seasons

Yep. So for the player safety factor you can follow the blueprint they have for PNG games in

The World Cup
PMXIII
8 seasons worth of QLD Cup data
Not to mention the odd NRL team game up there.

As yet we have seen no issues. Senior guys have played in there before, If they are fine with it. Then that is the main thing

Png had the chance to link up with north Sydney or Brisbane easts

they rejected both because they don’t need their money

they’ve said they want to be based in png full time which also is positive and very ambitious

but I’m sure cairns would be more than happy for them to stay long term

it would make the bid even stronger financially

That and the fact any marquees agreeing to the flying around is gonna get the lions share of the 12 mill from the clubs players salaries, the rest is filled with minimum wage locals, great way to earn a retirement fund

They rejected it purely based on ownership of the licence, if they linked up with any of those two clubs
ESPECIALLY THOSE TWO CLUBS..the licence would surely end up back in Coorparoo or Cammeray, faster than you can say "northern eagles!"

Do you not see the problem with putting a team in a location that is too dangerous for players to live there?

Of course there is a problem with it, there are many reason why the side shouldn't go in.

There are also reasons why in the future having a side there has benefits.

That is what it is weighing up, Pakistan couldn't play cricket tests at home for a while there.

So sport is littered with examples of trying to use Sport to better a country or an image in the case of the Saudi's

6 games in cairns

checkmate
So let leave to the side that that is North Queensland ( cowboys territory) with a crap facility with what would be 2 teams not representing the area.. maybe 5 to 6k crowds.

Now you have the situation where not 1 part of the organisation is PNG, 95% of their roster will be from somewhere else, they will be 100% funded by Australia, live in Australia and play 75% of their games in Australia and NZ.
Why even call them PNG?
They play 6 games there? 6 days in the country?
Checkmate? Lmao

A national team is not the same as a club side.

..they won't be based in port Moresby

Yeah we know, that's the problem. They will be playing all their home games there, but can't live there because it's too dangerous.

Why should a place get a team when everyone acknowledges it's too dangerous for players to spend more than a day or 2 there at a time?

..because Fed's will pay NRL to host team. Most of Ur questions can be answered by just going back to above answer.

They can play were hunters played outside of main island also.

It is building for the future.

As is all of those teams looking to get in. Unless they go for Brisbane 3 all the sides are 10-15 years away from holding their own with the rest of the comp

Pretty sure the other locations don't have riots over $120 missing from people's pay. Pretty sure the other locations don't need to have players live in another country due to security issues. Pretty sure the other locations don't require the leader to have an 18 month grace period due to the amount of instability.

Not all locations are equal.

Also, PNG need about $1bn in govt funding over a 10 year period, and everyone agrees that they'd die without the govt money. PNG will never hold their own with the rest of the comp because they can't survive without govt funding.

It is the same principal.

Top side plays elsewhere, Structure for that side is somewhere else

No it's not. Nobody is introducing the Pakistan cricket team into a comp and expecting them to play at home despite the serious security issues. They were an existing national team that had to play in another country as it was too dangerous. They are not even remotely the same. If Palestine didn't already have a national team, nobody would be trying to create a team there now.

Where did I say all bids are equal? Just all bids have their issues.

PNG isn't going to get much less then that without a team anyway. It isn't like Australia is only giving them money due to a team.

Yes but they do and still are able to compete. As is North Korea and others of countries with issues.

Hell PNG are even hosting World Cup qualifiers in Nov.

They are fine to host International events but can't host NRL games... makes total sense
