Cairns got 8k to their only NRL game last year and Rabbitohs aren’t going back this year. Small city, shit “stadium”, not likely to win over many if any local fans to a PNG team. Hardly the slam dunk backup option you seem to think it is.

If the training base is the backup option should the PNG side of it fail then they should just set it up in Brisbane. At least that way there would be something salvageable if it goes belly up.
There’s a brand new stadium in tvl where playing the other qld teams would be sold out

plus there’s potential corporate support of qld and far north qld which will be decent

It depends on the deal they get from Cairns really

I doubt there would be much of a deal. Cairns probably hoping to get some better infrastructure funded and a few more NRL games out of it that they don’t have to pay Sydney clubs for.

PNG V Cowboys would draw OK but not sell out unless Cowboys members got access, even then most cowboys home games don’t sell out so not sure why you’d expect a Cowboys away game there to or better yet a game not even involving Cowboys. PNG V Broncos/Dolphins/Titans in Townsville ain’t selling out.

Also it’s a flight away which involves all the f**k around of an airport or a 4 hour drive, might as well fly a bit further and play those in Brisbane if they’re not going to be played in PNG.

PNG would become immediate rivals of the cowboys whether they play at Cairns a few times or not, simply due to proximity. Anzac clash would be big event..

So according to Canard, a person cannot be a Cowboys fan unless they're born in Brisbane, move to Cairns, then settle in Melbourne?
Old mate here had a sook that people should move to a city with an NRL team if they won't one.

Yet he "supports" a team 1500km away despite having no roots there, and never even visiting the area AND whilst having 3 teams on his doorstep.

I will always call out double standards by gatekeeping f**kwits.

It's great to live rent free in all you dumbarses minds though.
