It depends how it is grouped in the data, Hawaii is a US market that works in timezone, culture of the Rugby codes. That could be grouped with NZ, Fiji, PNG etc. certainly easier to go there with teams in multiple countries

I don't think they will buy the whole thing to produce but there is no reason they can't run the local feed, Add an extra $200m or so to the rights on top of whatever the local rights are at the time.

Not to mention stronger International teams hopefully sees finally some money go to the game
Outside of Hawaii, which is the smallest TV market in the US. The PI nations combined population and GDP is smaller then a medium sized Australian city.

It's probably the least valuable TV market in the world.

Watch.
Next team is nz, 2027.
Super rugby yet another poor year, poorer than the last . With no wc coming, the best players are headed overseas..
Big year for the Warriors and the announcement of another nz at the end of the year will be the icing on the cake.
Rugby league is going to run over the top of Rugby in nz over the next 10 years like a freight train.
NZ2 is a distant 4th in realistic expansion options, and the most unlikely option.

Having 1 or 2 club sides in NZ isn't going to dent the All Blacks or NZ Rugby.

Currently yes. In 20 years who knows these are long term projects

5m population in NZ
10m PNG

Hawaii just works better for timezone
Utah are high on RL
40m people in California

A bit of support in UK but timezone

You are looking at a decent slab of people...getting them engaged is the iss

Sky NZ paid $30m now.
We don't know what that WatchNRL brings in
Numbers or $ wise

They aim to have a national road system by 2040.

Having an aim and actually doing it are 2 seperate things BUT as it stands right now you can't drive between the 2 major cities.

So that affects things like trade, Getting supplies in to improve these areas and so on

That should in theory have an effect on the standard of living.

What the NRL want from any new team is extra TV money. We need to get more eyeballs Internationally watching the game.

Increasing the presence in the Pacific helps get Amazon and a like interested. Especially if the US adventure gets meaningful results.

Your NZ 2 also he the same results, but looking long term I'd rather go early and have PNG based in Australia then go later and add another 10-15 years for the international rights to be worth something decent

As for Adelaide, still haven't seen anything to see they are even Interested in a team, Rather go East with Perth as the 20
This PNG bid just sounds better all the time, seriously this bid is dead.

Broncos are the highest drawing team in the country. Losing four of their games was always going to anger Ch9. You'd have to be pretty dumb to think otherwise.
lol so 10 games of brisbane2 wasn’t worth more than 4 broncos games? Yet Brisbane 3 is super valuable to ch9? Keep digging that hole.

We will see when time comes. As I said this next team isn't for now it is to grow. Even the biggest fans of the Perth bid have said that will take time.

All we here is PNG are next though, That has to be coming from somewhere

Reporters to sell newspapers.
The headline said $ 600 million ..
We now no that there has never been a figure.
PNG NRL bid has less credit than Trump colluding with Russia..

That is fine for the figure but that Michelle Bishop who has no skin in the game anymore. Also said they were in.

What would another WA AFL team look like do you think?
IF, and I can’t see it for Probably 15-20 years if ever, then it would play at optus be based in northern suburbs and have some generic name. Problem with the theory of third club here is dockers still have growing to do and eagles fanbase is very strong in the northern suburbs. There simply isn’t the need for a third club. Bit like brisbane and nrl.

Who comes in as Team 20?

Perth or Adelaide you'd think

There’s been enough talk to suggest it’s a very real possibility png is next. it’s big risk for the nrl and in many ways nice not to see the traditional conservatism of the sport dictate decisions.

It’s also hard to see nrl turning down what the wa govt is offering if it is substantial for the game.

Tigers are an easy in but unlikely to be favoured choice as they will want to give dolphins at least a few years to establish.

Nz2 is a wildcard as only just starting to put together a case for inclusion.

id say it’s likely to be either png or Perth club 18, govt offers and risk determinant
perth club 19 if png is 18 and wa govt offer is too good to refuse
club 20 either nz2 or tigers depending on where things are at in ten - fifteen years.

if png is a no goer it’ll likely be perth club 18 then quite a while and tigers and nz2 19 and 20 probably 2033 onwards

2027 club 18
2030 club 19
2033 club 20.
possible timeline to a 20 club comp if png are a realistic choice
