The Sharks are going to cost you more then $100M
If you are paying $100m to purchase the Sharks you are paying overs, the Penns got offered $50m for Manly, one brother was keen, the other wasn’t, this was considered way over the asking price believed to have been around $45m and this was only two years ago.

Your right, Sharks footy club are nowhere near $100m. Leagues club maybe but that's not for sale. People can't see the difference.

Good business by Gyngell. You can bet that he sold that game on to Fox at a much better penny than he bought it for.
That extra cash should have gone to the NRL if Smith had done his job properly. At the very least put a clause in that they couldn't onsell any games.
Even better if he'd actually played them off against each other.

Edit: and yes I think PVL f**ked up by not taking things to competing stations.

PR loves to spin that shit.

As for the competing stations, Who is left?

Everything we hear from ARLC is all money driven.. yet apparently they left hundred of millions on the table with TV

We really need Ch10/Paramount to put in a large bid for the next broadcast deal.

The ideal scenario is Ch10/Paramount bid, Ch9/STAN and Ch7/Foxtel bidding against one another in a three way battle.

Regional ch10 ownership is a mess, Ownership is split up and the NSW/QLD/Vic owner will likely change hands.

No way a major code like RL goes with them until that is sorted, especially with how important Regional is to the sport

That is before you get into the Paramount plus side of it

You're telling half-truths again.

Dave Smith devalued the PTV component of the deal by selling four games exclusively to Ch9, who sold one of those games back to Foxtel and gave up exclusivity to the other three. Ch9 ended up paying well under $185m after they sold the Saturday night game to Foxtel and gave up exclusivity of the other three.
Fact is Dave smith sold the fta rights for $170 million cash. Over a decade later Vlandys sold them for $115mill. Them's the facts.

You want the ARLC to use the money generared by the heartland states to prop up a team in Perth?

Blah blab blah.

You'll be waiting a long time for that to happen.

So you want to take $3-4m away from Queensland and NSW?

The ARLC's revenue is primarily generated by the QRL, NSWRL and rugby league fans in Queensland and NSW.

Might as well call the Perth bid team the Perth Parasites.
So Much fun living in your head lol

So you agree team 19 is part of their tv deal

wow keep this up it’s a nice change
I’m sure it is along with the other stuff being announced. Do you think tv chose hobart and it’s worth $130mill a year to them? lol

f**k you like to spin that lie.

How much did it cost ch9 once they onsold the Sat game?
its irrelevant what ch9 did with the Saturday game. The fact is they would have paid nrl $185mill.
The deal only ended up $360mill. He should have been given chance to tear news ltd a new one as well.
I do agree they should have been made to show the Saturday night game though. Not having nrl on a Saturday night fta remains a dumb position for the game.

No it isn't irrelevant.

When this current ch9 deal was done, It was announced as the highest

Which goes with the rumours at the time that the $185m

Had fox paying $20m to broadcast the ch9 games using their footage

$35m to buy the Sat night game back

Which should still be the situation next deal, Pay TV will cover the 9th game due to it being on Sunday night.

Incredibly, the AFL will forgo there Saturday FTA game when the new deal kicks off, as they are aping the "Super Saturday" format of the Fox NRL production. And unlike 9 I don't think they will even show the last few rounds on FTA.

I think it's a bad idea that will hurt their game, so suck shit to them.
