One game in Sydney wouldn't bother me if it was a deal clincher to get us in the comp. If it ticks a box for Vlandys then do so be it. Thete might be something there playing Souths or easts at the SFS. If it doesn't work you stop it.
But there's no reason for it, and PVL isn't pushing extra sydney content, the links to nswrl are purely for branding purposes aswell as reserve grade depth, that they only reason the arlc would be behind this, not more sydney games, theres already half the comp playing here already

I agree wholeheartedly that its not needed. I just can't get out of my head Vlandys telling the Perth bid to go talk to the bears. I think he wants a Sydney link for some reason.

He is looking at it as a win/win perth has its flaws bears has their flaws, but together they create a bid that works... plus resurrection of a 1908 brand and porting them into a real expansion area, just screams NRLs version of the Swans...

As I said earlier in the thread.

NRL want the side to come in on the same playing ground as the rest.

Having good structure through the grades does that, As long as Perth has the licence, You can always claw that back as the Perth fan base grows.

10-15 years a huge slab of the Bears support will be in no place to still do so. The right school program has that and more covered by the locals

That is I want Bears in next, It gives the best shot to be successful

You need the Perth locals engaged to be successful. I'll need to be convinced to get behind it.

That will take time, I know they win always but look at the locals in the Scorchers team. Nothing gets local excitement then a class mate, Cousin etc getting a run in a sport at that level.

That is where I see a Perth heading over time

Absolutely, it's very parochial over here. But if there's even a sniff of this team being just a relocated sydney team then it's off to a bad start. They'll be asking fans who already support a team to change allegiances. I think a lot will baulk at getting behind the bears.

You never said the solution was an east coast club

you said Perth should get nrl funding to help produce juniors

it’s good to see you’ve taken the critisms on board

sadly you’re ignoring newtowns requirements they just want to copy what the Bears want in terms of logo and home games

They already have a feeder club locked in they don’t need Perth to cover the bills
Again untrue. I’ve always said it should be both. Increased investment in WA development, note how afl is going about tassie, and a link up with one or two second tier east coast, or png, clubs.

If it's successful there'll be demand for more. In fact I guarantee that Buzz will be publishing rumours (that he made up) that the team is looking to play more games in Sydney if the attendance is even half decent.

You have to know when to walk away from a deal, and a Perth side taking any home games to Sydney at all is taking the piss. Don't allow your desperation for a side to push you into accepting a bad deal for both yourself and Perth.

I get that, but that's why it needs to be full ownership in Perth. The takes away any chance of moving more games.

thanks you made my point. 1/3rd the population 1/2 the audience. RL is popular in Perth. Shame on you for seeing that as a bad thing.
You really are on a high aren`t you. Post after post of being upbeat. Be careful mate, remember the greater the highs the deeper the lows. I wouldn`t go counting your chickens just yet.
