Not much in Gormans speech about a perth NRl club but a little mention here:

Preparing for today, I was impressed by Business Sydney’s long history. Starting all the way back in 1826, when the Sydney Chamber of Commerce was established as the first organisation of its kind in the fledgling colony. Back then, colonial Australia was divided into just Western Australia and New South Wales. A rivalry where on occasion Western Australia has been outshone.

As the Sydney Swans showed on Saturday with their small win over the West Coast Eagles.

So, I am confident you have nothing to worry about when Western Australia is welcomed in to the NRL. I am pleased to back the push by WA Premier Roger Cook for a WA team to enter the NRL. One more team for you to beat, one more way to connect the people of our vast continent.

HBF Park in Highgate in my electorate is the perfect home for a new team. And we will welcome talent from the East to the West. And not for the first time.

Fiona Stanley, the brilliant epidemiologist, was born in Sydney but moved to Perth and was named Australian of the Year. Adam Gilchrist grew up in regional NSW before moving to Perth to realise his dream of becoming a first-class wicket keeper. And our former Premier, Mark McGowan, was born in Coffs Harbour, moved to WA as a 23-year-old with the Navy and never looked back. You even let us borrow Hugh Jackman for a few years in the 90s.

So, Sydney might be where dreams are born, but Perth is where they come true. It is great to be in a city where everything is happening. Just goes to show that you don’t need our GST money after all!

I'll take a guess and say that they will announce all 3 expansion teams at once, with one team to come in 2025-27 years and the next two 2027-30.
Time to get all infrastructures in place, and create the hype.
I think that would be a hugely positive move - getting a clear road map towards 20 teams out there would give the game a well defined sense of ambition & some targets to get stuck-in and work towards.

No more idle speculation, just putting in the groundwork for a set of publicly stated goals.

Whatever happens, we need team 18 now! Three byes for Sharks and other clubs already this year, while some clubs have had only one and a terribly disrupted season during the Origin period has seen the NRL season lose so much momentum.
When you put the weekly bye on top of Origin byes, it just makes the flow of the season too damn disjointed & unfair.

18 teams ASAP, and suspend the comp for 3 weekends for Origin, NZ/Pacific Island tests & 3 interleague rounds between NSW & Qld Cup clubs

"Publically stated goals" that wont happen, there's a war between the codes... via stadiums, sponsors, cities, you name it... NRL announces Perf or NZ, then AFL and RU start kicking up a stink via media etc, AFL announces QLD, RL kicks up a stink and so on..
We'll know at the last minute, it just the way it goes

I can agree on the bye drop, but not on origin, you cant suspend the comp for 3 weeks, all you do is hand over focus to rival codes during that period..
Besides the rookies in your squad (the bottom 13)
Should be getting a run for next seasons growth, and the rest of the comp can play catch up, when the likes of DCE, Cleary and Munster are absent...
The ladder is hugely congested at the moment, anyone can play finals.. its a great year to be a fan of NRL

Let afl go and make a 20 team comp

the nrl will dwarf it

Afl hasn’t even got the players for a 18 team comp

20 teams still misses out Adelaide and either nz2 or sw Brisbane

just because others codes are having poor success at expansion doesn’t mean the nrl will each sport needs to be judged on its own merits

20 is an easy target to achieve in terms of teams being viable and having enough players

England aren't coming to Australia nor are any team going to England mid season. That's just nonsense.
They went to Denver in the middle of the year. England are craving for footy. Give them annual three week slot, they will be here with bells on.
The whole idea that we can play Pacific nations tests and Origin is ludicrous now that there are so many Pacific Island players in the Origin teams.
Then SOO eligibility needs to change to Australian players only (like it bloody should be). It’s not hard if you put even just 14 seconds of thought into it.

That would seem exactly just about how much time you put thinking into it. Your brilliant idea would not only make Origin a second-rate spectacle but probably Pacific Tests as well. As is we can have the best of both worlds, as long as we have a dedicated end-of-year representative window.

Using the Jets brand would probably get non-binary hipsters in the inner-west to follow the Perth NRL team as it would be an extensioon of the Newtown brand, a cool story of an inner-city working class club that ventured far west to conquer a new land.
