18th club, whose next?

Rugby League is financially strong, and in a golden period of calculated risk-taking that makes the future of this sport exciting - Vegas, potential investment in English league, expansion clubs.

There's an ancient Chinese proverb (please excuse my rudimentary translation) that I think is quite appropriate for this discussion:

Anything's a dildo if you're brave enough.

After all this dribble of 1325 pages

I still only see one real viable option for NRL sustainable revenue growth

it is very much 2 ownership entities. The WA consortium and the NSFC. Both will presumably sit on the board and no doubt there will be points of conflict . For example say in a couple of years the club wants to move the nsw cup team to be based in perth because it wants more emphasis on WA jnr pathways, but that is seriously detrimental to the NSFC. I can think of a myriad possible points of conflict re brand and pathways where the two ownership groups could be at loggerheads.
The only way it works is if the Bears get only 1 seat on the board so the Perth side have total say. Basically freezing them out of any decision making.

In other words you’re just re-stating the biased position you gave us right from the start.

I'm all for a shortened NRL season so an international window becomes part of the package and is played every year, but it can't be everyone plays once. It sounds nice but you need to have an additional rivalry round so you can get certain must have fixtures h&a. Broncos v Dolphins is the top of that list. Two 45k+ crowds (plus ratings blockbusters).

Stand alone Perth has nothing. Norths have the established football operations.

PNG is paying 60 million

Perth can’t even come up with half
edit: The Australian Govt is paying $60million ,allegedly.

You are stupid, the $30mill thrown around has been by Cumins on what he thinks will need to be spent to get a new club up and running properly.

there is a deeper respect and adoration of AFL in afl cities than Ive seen for NRL in NRL cities, thats for sure. It also seems to permeate a bigger % of the popaultion and across more diverse demographics. Maybe writing negative stories just is less acceptable to the population in afl land than nrl land?
or maybe they have been bribing them longer lol
Umm yeah well for the last 100 years they haven't had to deal with another organisation called the Australian Football Union splitting thier fan base along class lines

WA govt is paying in areas that it has a remit to. Sports infrastructure and jnr sport. They've clearly said all along they are not in the business of funding professional sports teams. And quite rightly so.
Aus govt using tax payer money to directly keep a professional sports club afloat is appalling really. And if it wasnt a RL club we were talking about you would agree no doubt.
