I wonder what the point of having an open bid process is if they have already decided on which two cities are going to get it (with only one bid coming from each of those cities) and that club 20 will be parked till later? Team 20 wont be coming in until sometime 2030-2032. Thats 7-10 years after Dolphins. Do they need longer than that?
Yeah it's a funny one. There's been a few quotes from V'landys and Abdo that hint at the fact that a winning bid will be announced from each city with the Tigers up their sleeve if nothing suitable comes from NZ. Then they will attach a start date to each bid. E.G. Your consortium (Mr Cummins 😉) in 2027, Albo's PNG bid in 2028 and Christchurch / SEQ in 2030.

If NZ come up with something suitable, there will be some comment about the NRL taking a closer look at SEQ in the next round of expansion.

It'll be hilarious if Puddy has put in a massive bid and wins it and we get the Reds back after all this lol

My concern with the PNG bid is can they sustain a team

We know they will get a 20k crowd for the big one of games

But the recent Pacific Championships showed with normal NRL gate pricing crowds disappeared
Once the novelty dies down it will be hard to see how they draw 15k paying spectators to each game.

Totally safe and secure. I guess the propaganda tour was limited to 5 star hotels in Port Moresby.
The people advocating for this proposal to go ahead are disgusting. Albo, V'landys, MugaB and WB1234 like to talk this up as if it's the greatest thing on Earth, but none of them have the guts to practice what they preach and relocate to PNG.

Ok since your knowledge of the history of rugby league is so good, who were the two kiwi founders of rugby league in Australia ?

Which team that toured England was the Inspiration for the northern union to make their game more attractive ?
Didn't the Northern Union change the rules after the All Blacks drew large crowds around England with their swift back line ball movement?

Thry removed the flankers. Replaced the ruck and maul system with the play the ball. Replaced lineouts with scrums.

I remember an "All Golds" team travelling to England. It had one Australian player. The rest of the squad were New Zealanders.

Was it Dally Messenger who played for the All Golds?

Excellent and yes. Spot on

it was the 1905 all blacks

most of whom ended up going to league after being the inspiration for the rule changes

Yes plus some discussions with the 1902 Canadian Rugby touring team as they explained the then gridiron rules with their 11 man team, 4 downs(tackles) and healing the ball to restart a tackle

Don’t be daft, it makes perfect sense to put a club behind barbed wire in a country where people are beheading each other. How dare you question the logic of png lol.
