Using your logic, WB1234 should be pushing for Brisbane 3 and 4 ahead of Perth, NZ 2 and PNG because the BRL's history dates back to 1909. The fact he doesn't proves he's biased in favour of NSWRL.

And yes, small broke clubs like Bears, Magpies, Tigers, Steelers, Rabbitohs and Dragons deserved to be punted when the competition was rationalised from 22 to 14.

Chargers had money in the bank and were shut down to appease News Ltd and NSWRL clubs.
The only club worth a shot there was the Reds, the others were complete failures in their two or three years in the competition.
Most of them were only added due to their competitions lack of a team in that area.
Chargers, Rams, Crushers, Mariners couldn’t even keep their heads above water for a couple of seasons.
Add their seasons together and they would be lucky to reach 10 seasons in total, to compare that to the Tigers, the Bears, the Magpies, the Steelers, the Dragons, heck even the Jets is just ridiculous.
Maybe you’d be better off comparing them to Glebe lol.

1908

The birthdate of the nswrl!

Nobody celebrates 1909

except souths!
So because NSWRL started one year before the NRL we need nine Sydney clubs?

Using your logic we should punt Parramatta, Manly, St George, Canterbury, Penrith and Cronulla because they were created long after 1908. Brisbane Tigers are older than them you goose.

When people talk about the foundation date of rugby league in Australia they are talking about the foundation of the nswrl lol

nobody mentions 1909

Magpies were a basket case and had no money. It's a wonder they made it as far as they did. By 1999 they were fielding a reserve grade team and running on the smell of an oily rag. Should have been punted in the eaely 1980s.

Chargers had money in the bank and made the finals in 1997.

Bears were strong on the field in the 90s, but lacked resources to compete off the field. The game was fully professional in 1999 and the Bears were operating on an outdated business model from fhe semi-professional era. The club's poor business model saw them fail to maintain a 50% stake in the Northern Eagles. The Bears didn't experience any success on the field since the 1920s and were no loss to the game.

After one a half years, the Dolphins are bigger, stronger and more popular than the Bears ever were in their 91 year history.

Crushers were a dud club and were given no assistance from News Ltd when the print media still had influence.

ARL set the four expansion clubs up to fail by forcing them to cover the travel and accommodation costs of broke NSWRL clubs.

So if the NRL buys the Super League and combines the two competitions then will the balance of power go towards the RFL clubs?

The Northern Union began in 1895.

Since when were all NSWRL clubs created in 1908?

St George 1920.

Canterbury Bankstown 1935

Manly Warringah 1946

Parramatta 1947.

Cronulla Sutherland 1963

Penrith Panthers 1966

Brl and super league failed

can’t do rugby league without Sydney
How do you explain Super League drawing larger attendances than ARL in 97?

Only three Super League clubs folded: Reds, Mariners and Rams.

Almost three times as many ARL clubs died: Crushers, Dragons, Steelers, Rabbitohs, Sea Eagles, Bears, Magpies and Tigers.

We are talking about Australia mate

nrl is the name of the comp

it is owned by the arlc

super league = one team in Brisbane
Arl = two Brisbane teams
Game in Australia wouldn't exist without the Northern Union.

Besides, I was speaking hypothetically about what happens if V'landys buys the Super League!

You've been talking that up. If it happens then NSWRL becomes the younger sibling.

Game is bigger than any one city, yet NSWRL fans want it to be based around them?

They don't want standalone Perth-based team because it has no appeal to insular NSWRL fans. Add Bears into the mix and they get excited.

Expansion shouldn't be based around the selfish opinions of NSWRL fans who still have a CRT TV and ashtray in their lounge room.
