Totally safe and secure..... but only if you stay locked in a compound all day, every day.
I can see for an early career single player for a year or two it’d be a novelty and the tax free pay would overcome the environment if the compound was decent enough.
But theyre not going To get players with families and I reckon they’ll have a constant turn over of roster with players only lasting a short time with the club. Going to be interesting to see how they can put a competitive squad together year on year, at least until the png pathways start producing.

It’s equally bs.
Reason why is 1. It’s $10mill not $600mill (allegedly) and 2. It’s union and hasn’t garnered any attention.

all the things govt could be doing with our money to make peoples lives better bankrolling professional sports teams should be way down the bottom Of the list.

Until we know what the actual $600m goes to that can't be used. For example Fixing up a few school so the side can train or send their academy kids.

Is seperate to NRL funding. Sure it helps the bid is for the greater good of PNG as a whole

How many areas that have an NRL team would you feel safe walking around at night?

And the compound is going to be far from a prison. More like a resort Storm loved their stay on Sunshine

No, so Sydney teams can play against each other more often
Either/or they aren't the bigger draws as much as cows vs bronx twice or phins vs bronx twice, the point is broadcasters will want more derbies rival games, not everyone plays each other once for honour or fairness of competition

Again. How is it different than Souffs for example having multiple private ownership having different thoughts?

If John Singleton and the Hungry Jacks owner jumped onboard as the Newtown Jets. You don't think they'd want seats on the board etc?
Again.. NOT a merger!

How's 52 million over 4 years for the Drua 2019-2023, and 4.5 for moana pacifika for their first four years, so no not 10million ..derp, plus the govts are pumping another 14 million into them again, whilst the rebels sat there haemorrhaging...
pngs 600 million is actually 60 million per year...(allegedly)

Afl is getting over a billion for two stadiums in Tasmania. A team the afl didn’t even want ie not a high priority

it’s only when rugby league gets help that some rugby league “fans” have an issue

60 million pa is nothing for the federal govt

Anyone got the crime stats for all the Aussie expats working in compounds ?

maybe that’s a bit more relevant than some crime in the highlands hundreds of kilometres away ?

As I said. I trust the NRL

Look at how over the top they are with player safety, There is no way they haven't done their homework here

I'd be fine walking around any Australian city at night.

And the compound is going to be far from a prison. More like a resort Storm loved their stay on Sunshine

And yet even the paid propaganda article said they wouldn't be allowed to leave unless given permission. That's a prison.

The NSW Cup Bears suffer their first loss in 10 weeks to the Bulldogs, the Doggies just to enthusiastic today.
I believe it is always good to have a loss just before the Finals, there are five competition games remaining and four of those are at NSO.

Much of the media coverage about PNG is focused on negative or isolated incidents, often ignoring the majority of professionals working in-country who go about their day-to-day with little-to-no issues.

The Bears had a great team on paper, dare I say it probably our best of 2024, with four Melbourne Storm contracted players Sualauvi Faalogo (fullback), Reimis Smith (centre), Dean Ieremia (centre) and Tepai Moeroa (prop) playing.
