Can’t spend money on an nrl club you’ve got to spend it on something.
Why do you think the WC metheads are going to be such a hit in WA? We won’t need a club, we will have one we can get on board with, toot, toot.
West Coast Metheads is it? Perf sounds better

If you look at the two biggest sporting markets in Australia it’s as clear as methheads pipe that it’s, Sydney NRL (9 Clubs), and Melbin Afl (9 Clubs).

So using that logic if SQLD had more clubs it could reach the heights of the other two. What’s stoping it being as big? not enough teams, derbies, and local rivalries.

Ipswich/western Corridor team and southside/Logan team wouldn’t be the craziest ideas.
If both areas could get half decent size stadiums each, the places would go off. Play the derbies and finals at Suncorp.

SQLD is rapidly expanding and with the Olympics coming why not cash in. Sow up the Brisbane area and NRL wins the battle in Australia. Keep ignoring it and the enemy will invade. Expand or die. Perth, Adelaide, NZ2, all great ideas that will have to wait.

Bring on the Ipswich Jets & SouthSide Scorpions

They left western corridor open for this very reason

Neither of those markets are sustainable in reality in their current over saturated make up and are being propped up by ever increasingly high grants from central coffers. Melbourne has 2-3 AFL clubs that require significant above base funding to survive and NRL has had to up the grants massively in the last 5 years to keep a number of clubs viable.

Sure if Ipswich gets to 1million and has a stadium built for them then the Metheads are a ring in.

Well Perth can't even get off ground, but clubs with millions aren't viable.
U know now that Perth is the meth capital, but keep spreading misinformation & making light of drug addiction

yeah true, the Broncos being a juggernaut of Aussie sports playing out of a world class 52k stadium is a bad look , we need SEQLD to have 5 Cronulla Sharks playing out of cow paddocks.

Ipswich may be limited to size of dolphins oval & seagulls proposed stadium. Doesn't matter coz will play out of Suncorp most weeks.
Well it is not an Ipswich/Logan team then.

Maybe they are all Dolphins, they claim no particular area. Will scab Logan and Ipswich juniors as the Broncos do.

I love that Cowboys are keeping most of thier kids.

I support Perth, as much as they have been corrupted by Victorian and thier insidious disgasting national disgrace, there is support.

Logistics and the COVID, as in the WA government will just shutdown the borders remain the hurdles.

17 is an bad number for a competition, 18 will be soon. Not sure who.

p.s. - I'm tipping the Sharks to make the grand final this year so yes i know the club isn't doing badly at all. Just using you as an example as team very localised to a collection of suburbs. Raiders are a small market team too but we should be aiming to have more large clubs like Broncos and Eels, not small ones like Sharks and Raiders.

Australia has five cities over 1 million ppl. Unless you want a 5 team league you got to start bringing in teams from the same city. Also, rusted on afl towns are going to have limited interest.

Yes it is. They playing out biggest stadium in their city which is reasonable commute away. For example NY giants & jets play out of new Jersey because that's where stadium. Same thing

If you were starting from scratch you'd have
6 Sydney clubs
3 Brisbane clubs
2 Melbourne clubs
2 Perth clubs
1 Adelaide club

in terms of metro split. Thats a strong 14 club city comp then you can add in the larger regional cities/NZ on top of that. What weve got is just a historic hangover of evolving a local comp.
