I don't get the McGrath chat every time some bowler is too slow. McGrath was quick enough. I don't think Sayers was.
There's a big difference between low 130s and 125s. And yeah the game was very different back then too. But by the time McGrath dropped to Sayers pace he had hundreds of Test wickets.
They're also massively different bowlers. Pidge is almost 2m tall with the wingspan of a mutant albatross. He banged it in hard and rarely swung it much, but his height caused the ball to do things and gave him wicked bounce, which is intimidating. He could get you out loads of ways and also hurt you. Plus he was military accurate.
Sayers is 180cm tall, bowled sub 130 as a rule his whole career, swung the ball miles but had no other weapons and bowled much fuller, as a swing bowler. Waaaaay easier to negotiate. Like I said, probably would have carves in England though. I don't think we use enough specialist condition bowlers
