Ian Chappell has so far this stint in commentary referenced:

John Snow
Derrick Underwood
Bob Massie picking a ball in a Shield game
Dennis Lillee and Geoff Thompson captaining against each other in a Shield final

I don't even think he's talked about the game in progress 😂

Ooh, going well on my Chappelli bingo card.

Imagine sitting around at a Chappell family gathering. Every one of Ian's sentences would start with "I remember when....".

Enough to put everyone to sleep.

I think he has been senile for a good while
However, has a memory as sharp as a chuko bochu cleaver pre-1981.

Joe Root has never been great in Australia. He needs at least one big game changing dig on his resume to be truly considered a generational player.

There is still so much time left in this game. Both these blokes are in. If they both get hundreds all of a sudden it is game on.

Lol Lyon is so incredibly innocuous. Zero variation, f**k all turn. How has he gotten 399 test wickets? It's amazing.
He averages 32. In the 400 club the only bloke who averaged above 29 is Harbhajan. Or another player who made a living from being dead average.

Players who will get crap batsmen, get the tail, or get cheap wickets that come from blokes on the other end putting pressure on. I have never recalled Lyon ripping through a top order on a pitch not giving much. He has never turned the tide of a big match. I still remember the Adelaide test a few years ago where he could do nothing on the last day against the Saffers even with a mountain of runs keeping us safe.

I can't stand him. Dead average player. Yes after Warney and Maccgill we had some worse than average spinners but his mediocrity has stopped us from giving opportunities to someone who could have become special in this last decade.
