1st Ashes Test: England v Australia at Cardiff on Jul 8-12, 2015

Everything is about pace for Australia that's why no line and length discipline.

In previous series we've had a pair of line bowlers in Harry/Sidds and Harry/Haze and letting Johnson do the attacking.

Now we've got two attacking lefties who are not renowned for their economy with Haze to compliment them. So the balance is a bit off at the moment.

Johnson won't change and probably shouldn't, so I think Starc really needs to start getting a line going rather than the taking a wicket every ball mentality he seems to be stuck in. He's got a good action and plenty of talent, so if he lands them in the right areas often enough the wickets will come.

I doubt it...

I think Australia will get better as the series goes on.

I think they've been caught on the hop here...

This is still the same England that crumbled the further the NZ series went.

This is just the same Australia who struggle to make 300+ on their last 3 trips to England in the Ashes.

That lead on this pitch is more like over 200, the pitch will only get harder to bat on. Haddins drop and our wasteful batting yesterday has cost us this test.

Agreed, I doubt things will continue this way. Having said that, being 1 up in Ingerlund is a decent advantage, especially given the inevitable weather issues.

England rely too heavily on Cook and Root.

If Australia can get those 2 cheaply this English line up is vulnerable.

Johnson is 33. Starc has never been cut out for 5 day cricket. Hazlewood is very green.

I'd drop both Johnson and Starc,.

I like what Hazelwood and Clarke are up to...

Lyth is well across his stumps...

I think if they get a good number of go's at him they will get him...

Hazelwood just needs to stay disciplined with his line.
