For discussion on the first Chappell/Hadlee Trophy match.

After their crushing 4-1 loss to South Africa they'll want to get back on track against New Zealand. I still wouldn't under estimate the Kiwis though cuz they always seem to lift against Australia and test form shouldn't be taken into account cuz they seem to be alot better when they're wearing the coloured gear.

No Styris, Oram. Ryder out for the 1st game. Mills reportedly batting as high as 7. Taylor at 24 suddenly NZs senior batsmen. McCullum maybe playing as a batsman only. Too many disruptions, too much inexperience, Aussie looking to hit back hard. Sad to say but 5 - 0 or 4 - 1 to Australia, with bowlers who previously looked ordinary against SAF suddenly appearing unplayable.

Ponting loves the Kiwi bowlers.

If Ryder's out for the first game, I hear Cumming is his back up.
Man we're f**kd.

Shoot Jacob Oram too.
In search of a better word... he's a pussy.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

ffs.

Over the last 5 years NZ has a winning record against all other Test playing nations in ODIs.. bar Australia where we have won 5 out of our last 29.

We certainly don't 'lift'... I don't get where this myth came from?

Ok let's get Adam and Jamie onto it :)

but seriously.. i just don't get it. I'm sorry for signaling your post out, because there are many other examples and it is a popular opinion, but the stats just don't back it up.

Maybe he was talking about the netball?

In all seriousness, I think it might stem from way back in 2002, when NZ made the tri series finals, and did very well vs Aust around that time in one dayers. Some people just havent moved on from that ;-)

I hope the Aussies are making some changes to the One day side .. Surely there has to be some changes after losing the series 4-1. Did the Aussies even bowl out the Saffas in the series??

That's exactly right.

Ever since that series everyone, commentators included, continually harp on about how NZ always lift against Australia in the one-day game.

Quite funny really.
