I think they need to pull Malinga for now... Bring him back later when the restrictions are over...

I'd almost bring hearth on.... I know the restrictions are still on... But they have to change it up IMO..

Williamson is a more than adequate substitute for Jones.

Hopefully, Elliot can maintain his form going into the tournament.

Jed was a pretty fair player eh... brilliant bat, looked like an ugly ducking in his stance, his pick up, but generally his cover drives, cuts, and pulls were played with much security.

I watched the NZ v Eng match from the 92 cup recently. I think Jones even got a couple of wickets in that one, as well as top scoring

He did, in that game Mark Greatbatch had to keep wicket as Smithy had to go off with a migraine.

New Zealand looking sensational here. THis pitch is a beauty. Deadset, I am concerned that Sri Lanka are potentially about to enter a West Indies like drop once Mahela Jayawardena, Kumar Sangakkara go... In this day and age there is no way that Muttiah Muralithrowin would have lasted more than 5 international games without being suspended, and they've had others that were pretty ordinary. Aside from Chaminda Vaas, their pace bowlers are genuine nuffies in their history. I just don't see how they return to power once in particular Kumar goes.

For some reason, I always think about Wal Footrot's mate Cooch whenI think of Andrew Jones

Ha! Good comparison for Andrew Jones... he looked like a farmer didn't he, my understanding though is he's a highly successful accountant/business exec these days.

This is a massive test for NZ. Sri Lanka should be favourites really

Sorry, what was the logic behind that statement?

Not saying we're certs, but we are the favourites, easily

For me, I had genuine nerves heading into it JJ... it may be a Kiwi trait to be unsure on the big stage, but my thoughts were Sri Lanka has a great history against us in the World Cup, and, they've seen so much of us you would have thought they ... even though losing, got accustomed to our players and pitches. So far they've been turds though.

Sure, I appreciate the nerves etc - I am hesitant to say it - and their bats are hugely dangerous, but we are a much much better ODI side than them at the moment, not sure how anyone could argue otherwise

I guess I'm not really comfortable with the way we've been talked up recently

Something interesting we should probably all keep in mind...

There's no hotspot in this tournament... So DRS may not be as clear cut as it usually is.

Sure, neither am I - this isn't necessarily the best team we've sent to a WC, but we're favourites here... doesn't mean we win, of course...
