These graphics are taking too much of the screen up IMO....

Maybe I just have to get used to it...

re Williamson. I actually thought he looked nervous while he was waiting to come in

Yeah I saw those ratings... how on earth do they get it so wrong? Its quite embarrassing that the producers basically approved these graphics which are blatantly badly wrong.

Are they wrong though??

I assumed they just went off the official ICC rankings...

Whether the rankings are right are a whole different argument...

By any credible measurement, they are wrong and any cricket fan knows it

EDIT sorry, that wasn't directed at you…I am saying that whoever is putting up these graphics is not a cricket fan

The graphics look like its being marketed to 8-11 year old fan bois in India. Guppy out. The issue here is neither of the openers went on with it, thus the comments that McCullum did his job... no. If his job isn't to go on after getting in, then he has the wrong job description for a top order bat.

Very unfortunate for Guptill, but a relatively good innings from him.

yeah, but he seems content to play that role. Go hard at it and let the chips fall where they may. I'm not a huge fan of it myself. We're off to a good start but there's a lot of cricket to play and one of these guys really need to bat for a long time now.

Williamson deadset looks horrible out there. I didn't think he'd be the bloke affected by nerves but he looks dreadfully nervous. To the point where I'm thinking he's looking even worse than Willie Watson, perhaps even Chris Pringle or Richard De Groen level.

So yeah, I still reckon they should have brought on Lakmal when they brought on Herath.

Yeah hopefully he makes a streak 20 and then settles in.

His job first and foremost is to blunt the 2 new balls and take advantage of the powerplay overs upfront... Which eased RR pressure on the rest of the batting lineup in the middle overs...

Sure it would have been great for him to carry on with a big score... But that's all icing on the cake...

Thats the difference though for me in Australia being favourites for this tournament. Warner and/or Finch will do the same job, but go on to a big total on a more frequent basis. Good innings, set up momentum, but thats the difference for him to become a world class ODI opener. He's still very good, but he's the next tier down because of that.

This. If you think an opener getting 65 at a run rate in excess of 130 isn't doing his job you're f**king crazy, and doomed to disappointment.

Or to look at it another way- even with the current pair stalling a bit, the overall run rate is still around 6- that's a valuable platform McCullum's given the team.
