5 ODIs and 3 T20 games coming up between the nations

Id give all out ODI test players a rest for this game
If they are fine and raring to go pick them for the 2nd ODI which is on the 17th

I wonder if the Squad for RSA will be picked on ODI form, if so Bailey will be a shoe in.

But I'm with Timbo, looking for something to do is a let down after an amazing series like that. Everywhere I went I had either a TV, radio or cricket app.

Have the poms announced there squad yet, I know the precious ones (Anderson, Pietetson etc) are going home, and obviously Luke Wright and co that are playing BBL will be selected.

After such an epic Test series will be hard to get up for the ODI series.

On the plus side it's only a 5 game series.

Expect the poms to win the first couple pretty easily, unless we leave out all the test players

poms will try and salvage something from the tour, whereas we are nowhere near gonna be mentally up for it, not the first couple of games anyway

Pretty much. The losing ashes side usually (by recent history anyway) comes out firing for the limited overs stuff.

Yeah. I'm with everyone else. Hard to get excited for this. Should bring in a team of mostly Victorians for the hell of it.

1. Finch
2. Hodge
3. Bailey (c)
4. D. Hussey
5. White
6. Maxwell
7. Wade (vc)
8. Faulkner
9. Hastings
10. McKay
11. Doherty

Save our important players for SA

Anyone but White. He is the ODI version of Phil Hughes (in the respect that he couldn't live up to the hype.)

England named the following squad for the one-day international series versus Australia:
Alastair Cook (Essex, captain)
Gary Ballance (Yorkshire)
Ian Bell (Warwickshire)
Ravi Bopara (Essex)
Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire)
Danny Briggs (Hampshire)
Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire)
Jos Buttler (Somerset)
Michael Carberry (Hampshire)
Steven Finn (Middlesex)
Chris Jordan (Sussex)
Eoin Morgan (Middlesex)
Boyd Rankin (Warwickshire)
Joe Root (Yorkshire)
Ben Stokes (Durham)
James Tredwell (Kent)
Chris Woakes (Warwickshire)*
* Woakes was added to the squad on January 5.

The turnaround in interest between Test matches and ODI's since about the mid 90's has been incredible.

It used to be that these matches would sell out regularly and TV interest all consuming.

Will that be what happens to T20 eventually? It becomes huge and then slowy fades away?

I actually think the opposite. I think mentally England are gone, they won't really get the chance to refresh until they leave australia.
I won't be surprised if they don't win a single ODI, and maybe 1 20/20 at best.

I think by the end of this year Australia will be 1-2 in the world for all forms.

There's a lot of cross-over in the squads.

Cook, Bresnan, Rankin, Finn, Bell, Broad, Ballancd, Stokes, Root and Carberry are likely to still be she'll-shocked.

I'd be surprised if Cook has any major impact in this series either. He looks shot mentally, especially if Warner & Finch goes after the bowling early. He'll have a stroke knowing he can't put 5 men on the ropes until the 10th/15th over.

Surely only Cook, Stokes, Bell and Broad (and maybe Root) would be considered from the Test XI. England were never a very good ODI team but I imagine there will be a bit more fight in them.

Did KP retire from ODIs?
