Hollywood jesus at the game..
Your only argument there is Heazlett. Its hard to suggest that Stoinis was a poor selection given that he actually did ok. Australia have always picked the odd player on potential/gut feeling outside of major tournaments/test series. Some will pay off. Most won't. I don't hear anyone complaining about Renshaw.
The reality is Australia just doesn't have the talent floating around in domestic cricket like we did during our dominant years when guys like Hussey, Law, Love etc could barely get a game.
I just simply think its ridiculous to squish in this tour before India. Obviously moneyed interests are involved with the IPL "window," BBL etc.

The scheduling is f**ked, but this is on the selectors yet again. How is that my only argument? The number one ODI batsman on earth is sitting on a couch in Cronulla because apparently we don't need our vice captain in the absence of our skipper. You saying you're ok with that?
Stoinis took wickets, but why is he even there? We're light on batsmen, we're resting Warner and Khawaja. We already have all rounders in Faulkner, Maxwell and Head. We don't need him as a bowler with Starc, Cummins, Haze, Faulkner, Head, Maxwell and he averages 23 domestically with the bat. Why is he playing over a batsman??
Finch hasn't scored a one day hundred in over 40 matches or something. Why pick him again? We don't need an opener, we have Marsh, Head, we should have Khawaja and Warner....he offers nothing at international and hasn't for a long time, if we were going to pick an opener why not pick someone who has actually been scoring runs in one day cricket?
You can't compare Heazlett to Renshaw. Renshaw had played FC cricket and scored hundreds. Heazlett hasn't played a One Day game...
It's an absolute cop out to blame scheduling for this result
The problem is not the newbies, it is the selecting of proven failures.

Yep. They're the Watson twins. Unflushible.Pick a Marsh, lose, repeatable.
If you operate on the assumption that Warner is going to be rested, Finch was definitely an option. The only domestic "cricket" we had before this series was the hit and giggle BBL, and he did well there. There wasn't anything else to go by. We should have had more real domestic cricket before this series in January. That to me is a scheduling issue.
Good game for Stoinos
i just don't think they really care about this series seeing it was only mentioned recently that they are playing them as a trade off for hosting the World Cup final or some shitWe are getting what we deserve, arrogance and studpity from our selectors which is what they do best.
I thought is was the trade off for the night test in '15?i just don't think they really care about this series seeing it was only mentioned recently that they are playing them as a trade off for hosting the World Cup final or some shit
I blame NZ cricket, they should have rested a few players ahead of their important one off t20 game v South Africa on February 17th at this same venue
