0/100 at lunch.

Very good start from Australia, Smith/Lehmann would be happy with that.. Once they saw off the new ball, Warner and Burns scored runs with consummate ease.

If the ball doesn't move a lot the kiwis can look a touch pedestrian. All their bowlers are in the 135 area which is a touch slow in Australia.

Not just that, but they also all tend to bowl the same length consistently.

For all the talk of how the Kiwis play if we look back at their series in recent years there's a whole lot of 2 test 1-1 ties. NZ lack a Johnson/Starc type bowler who can look ordinary for stretches but then deliver a killer ball or aggressive spell that changes the game.

Batsman aren't always going to make mistakes and that's why NZ has so many 1-1 series, they don't have the bowlers who can swing the game in a short space of time. I would say most of their test wins have come off the back of their batsmen scoring big and using that to put pressure on the opposition more than the bowlers tearing teams apart.

Boult/Southee are quality bowlers, but you need more than 2 bowlers, especially in Australian conditions that doesn't tend to have bias to one style of bowling or the other.

f**k, I forget how annoying these commentators are but geez those netballers go OK

anyway, I think the score board flatters us, Southee and Boult have bowled very well and Burns was pretty scratchy at the start and their outfielding has been first class

Kiwis have a problem in bowling depth as there is daylight between their openers and Bracey

Not sure, quite possibly, although at the moment they seem to favour him more as a one day bowler (despite a modest record) than a test bowler.

Well he is one with genuine speed and in Australia you need that. Insane if fit to not pick him in Perth at least!

Braces is a battler who had a great summer that year we beat Australia in Hobart. Hard to fathom how he is picked over Matt Henry.

Boult starting to find his spots.

Him and Southee really are class.

I agree 0/100 flatters a little, they certainly looked scratchy early, and Burns has had a few shots off top edges that have evaded fielders, but the patience shown by both was quite good. Burns is looking better and better.

Pitch looks flat.

Maybe should consider pairing up Southee/Boult with other bowlers, help create a few wickets by the release of pressure from facing up the other end.

Milne's barely bowled since WC after a major back injury. Qulity prospect, as is Henry, neither quite there yet. Bracewell looked ok but pretty up and down, how Siddle was bowling last year.

Don't think Burns has looked too scratchy tbh. Aside from nearly running himself out and missing a few balls from Southee that most people would have missed he has been solid.

I've been impressed, big fan of him. There was jst a period earlier on where pull, hook shots were coming off the top edge, back of bat etc rather than out of the middle.

But he's looked more and more solid as the day has gone on

Pitch looks very flat - Boult struggling for rhythm and down a bit on pace...

Australia are incredibly hard to beat at home, we'll not roll over, but these are quite different conditions to NZ and England
