I still laugh at that Bankstown match being called off due to the pitch being 'unsafe'. Couldn't have been too unsafe for the batsmen in that game with the score at 1/503:lol:

Looks a great wicket to bat on, NZ;s bowling was solid the first hour and the ball did a bit. But after that they have been far to short or wide. Burns looks a compact solid player, makes the fact he was left out for a dud like Darsh all the more laughable.

Australia's inexperienced batting lineup is going to be put to the test now.

Khawaja: 9 tests (hasn't played a test for more than 2 yrs)
Marsh: 7 tests
Voges: 7 tests
Nevill: 4 tests

A big chance here for NZ if they can stifle the scoring momentum and take some more wickets.

Pretty tough scoring runs off the threat of Martin Guptill and Brendan McCullum

I feel for any off spinner who has to tour Australia. Its an off spinners graveyard. Even top off spinners like Swann had trouble down here.

Craigs last couple of balls a bit better, but he looks pretty average

He's average - relatively inexperienced - but quality fielder, lower order bat and team man - he'll develop well, and learn a lot from bowling in Aust - as will the rest tbh

He is average, very much average.

TBF though NZ hasn't had a genuine quality wicket taking spinner for some time (a very very long time). Even Vettori at his prime wasn't a massive wicket taker at Test level. His strength was more in the limited form where he took wickets when batsmen came after him.

Its been said a lot but Khawaja is a stylish batsman. As Hiney said I hope he has got the soft shot out the system.
