Yeah aside from Clarke & Ponting the rest don't have much since last summer. Watson was alright in WI just the usual starts without the big score.

The shield games this week are key to them finding some form. Haddin/Wade aside there's no one pushing to get a start sadly.

SA have done the job here before while never playing at the Gabba Steyn especially should bowl well there. So we need to find some form before the game

What I would love to know is why all test players were not brought home from the T20 to get some Shield cricket under their belt, there better be a good reason!

Maybe but there was club cricket, 2nd XI games....honestly this "there were no games" doesn't sit well with me. It is disgraceful and it IMO will cost us.

I don't understand Hughes ave 195 in One dayers surely he should be picked . Played on teams know bowl outside off and you will get him out.

So the Aust batsmen are struggling a week out from the test. We should schedule enough Shield games to help our preparation

Warner 2
Cowan 6
Watson 33
Ponting 5
Clarke 8
Hussey 65

If someone can teach Siddle to pitch it up and use the swing, he would be brilliant. Everytime he's done that consistently for a block of overs he's taken wickets and dried up the runs.

Problem is, it just doesn't happen often enough, he resorts to short shit outside off stump far too often. The Sth African batsmen will annihilate that shit.

I'd also like to see Pointing opening the batting. His steadying influence could prevent two young openers from throwing their wicket away.

We must play a spinner at the GABBA. our pace attack is too predictable for set bastmen. Need variantion. I'd even contemplate a medium pacer with some swing and movement off the seam instead of 4-5 quicks bowling at around the same speed.

Rob Quiney has been called in as cover for Watson. That first class average of 37 has me inspired.

Sad state of affairs is our batting. Outside of Hughes and Khawaja there ain't much of players averaging in the 40s.
