You need a spinner to meet over rates given how long quicks are taking to bowl.

It's also good to have a point of difference when you have four quck bowlers including Marsh.

I would maybe not if I thought Smith and Voges could give us 20 overs and innings (if needed). But they probably can't. So Lyon gets the go.

O'Keefe and Agar are both off to a good start in the shield, which is good. Nice to have some pressure on the incumbants.

Fair enough.

Always surprised by how little Smith bowls.

Congratulations to Mitch Marsh. On the verge of a major milestone. One more for a well deserved 30 test wickets.

I think Philander is looking at Marsh and wondering if that's really what they consider an all-rounder in Australia

On this pitch minus the opposition's best quick there surely must be a chance of a test lineup batting out a draw?

Brah Peter Nevill and Mitchell Marsh couldn't last more than 8 balls against my offspin let alone these guys

This is just plain embarrassing.

Lyon getting tonked by tail-enders, MMarsh batting worse than Bobby Niney and Siddle struggling to break 125 kph.

f**king lol the Lyon tamer.

He couldn't tame a three toed sloth.

0/132. And yet he's a walk up start every test.

If I were to write a comedy of Australian cricket it'd be called 'the Lyon and the 3 Marsh's'.

One would like to think SA batted too long here and we can survive the 4.5 session given how easy it looked out there and SA are a strike bowler short.

The way our batsmen play sometimes you'd swear they swapped pitches or dug potholes in it.
