Hopefully our NZ brothers can continue their form and pummel team India in the up coming tests. There is a warm up game starting tomorrow, which wont mean much

btw Where is this ground in Auckland?, Is it near Eden Park?

Terrible ground for test cricket.

I get India wanted to stay exclusively on the North Island for logistic reasons but why not play the test in Napier or Hamilton along with Wellington? They're nice proper cricket grounds.

I agree. I normally defend our grounds when people go on about their size etc., but there's no defending Eden Park. Cricketing wise it's a disgrace, especially for test matches. The England test last year was an embarrassment, 8,000 fans max in a 50,000 seat concrete rectangular rugby ground.

I really don't get how a new ground hasn't been developed in Auckland. I thought the rugby World Cup would have been the perfect time too. Surely the NZRU would have wanted to properly rectangularize Eden Park - after all, it is first and foremost a rugby ground - and building a cut-price cricket oval is really not that expensive an undertaking.

Case in point, the new Hagley Oval which will be able to hold up to 20,000 and is projected to cost around $20 million. I thought the #2 ground at North Harbour was even designed with this purpose in mind.

I remember England v New Zealand, 92, 2nd test, Eden Park. Batsmen should have been knighted if they were brave enough to go forward. Half volleys reared, short ones were gazunders... game was over smartly. Even Murphy Sua got wickets. If Michael Owens and Richard Petrie werebowling, theyd have looked Ray Lindwall and Harold Larwood

Terrible ground.

Period.

wow, I wouldn't have picked Eden Park as the venue, astonishing really

Have physically been to the ground to watch an ABs game and cant picture a test being played there

Its just not cricket...

Murphy Su'a was on debut IIRC.

Yep. Was going well until Allan Lamb decided to wield the ax like a third basemen knowing survival was futile...and Goochy scored a ton, half the runs between second slip and leg slip....

I guess the positive from the ICC proposal is that when Ind, Aus and Eng refuse to tour here there will be no more tests at Eden Park.

Dhoni has won the toss. He hasn't lost one on this tour. India will bowl. Good toss to win.

Fulton dropped on 1.

He's under a lot of pressure to score in this test.

Fulton plum lbw, but given not out. DRS would have condemned him. Shame India

Rutherford goes for a very uncomfortable 6. Great catch Rahane.

Fulton gone now. Should have been gone twice already, so this'll do nothing to silence his doubters.

Latham and McCullum to open next match - please. Fulton - so much luck and 13 was all he could manage. Rutherford is just a very average batsmen when the ball is doing anything other than straight up and down.

It's a shame, because I do like Fulton's approach to opening the batting. And you can see a lot of potential for the Fulton/Rutherford pairing. The problem is that they keep on failing.
