He looks like a pretty reasonable prospect but I wouldn't expect him to do amazing things at International level....well not for the next few years anyway. Bond was never a young prospect anyway on that point. He debuted at 26.

I never said anything about Bond ever being a young prospect.... Bond wasn't even an exciting prospect for tests until his ODI World series against Australia....

What I said was - Wagner is the most exciting NZ prospect since Bond and Paddles. You said no, so I asked you who you think is? If it is Arnel, McKay, Milne or Southee then I politely disagree.

feel sorry for Southee, f**ked around by admin/coaches and not allowed to play his natural style of game. He was a very promising bowler..

Selectors have not always done him favours - in and out - often without explanation. The guy could probably have a good drink with Louie Vincent. However, to be fair to admin, he has looked pretty already far too often. I am sure no coach has said to bowl all those wide long hops.

Probably because hes a part time bowler.....

I disagreed with the fact that you said he was the best prospect since Hadlee, I'm sure over the last 20 years there have been bowlers in FC cricket do what he has done or look as promising. Because to be fair from what I have seen he looks like a 135-140 left armer who moves it a bit, which is good but I'm not expecting big things from him on the international circuit especially in the next few years but would be happy for him to prove me wrong.

I'd take Kane Williamson over Steve Smith or Marcus North any day

Name one.

Surely not Heath Davis. Maybe Cairns if you're going back to Hadlee - but I am not so sure. Thommo (when a seamer) was exciting as the all round capability. Cairns was playing for the national team as a teenager in 1989 in Perth and broke himself bowling too fast. Milmow got injured before he got started and Mallender was a pom. Tuffey and Doull had good numbers domestically, but never the pace (120's) or controlled pressure to trouble international batsmen, thus both required favourable conditions.

Ian Butler was always going for runs but we got excited he could hit 140 when he burst on the scene. Allot didn't look like anything until he was already in the national ODI team....

The last time I got excited by domestic players were Ryder and Taylor. I cannot remember the last time I got excited by a domestic bowler - such is the pie chuckers NZ has sent out.

You're over excited then. Wagner isn't anything amazing, looks like a pretty reasonable bowler but I doubt he is going to have a huge impact at international level.

Southee averages over 30 in FC and has a bowling average in tests that, if was a batting average, would have him in the running has an opener at 43.

Yeah, exciting prospect....

Haha when he was 18/19 years old he was the best young bowler in the world along with Ameer and took a 5 wicket bag on Test debut so I would say he was our best bowling prospect in quite sometime by a quite a margin.
