The Saffas have been playing for a draw since the Aussies checked into the team hotel. They showed with their batting, bowling and fielding in this test how worthy they really are of the number 1 spot. I hope they get humiliated in their second innings like they deserve. A truly dreadful performance thus far.

wtf, you blind?

Ive already acknowledged he is a decent bowler (see red), just merely pointed out he hasn't played on the subcontinent SL and India and done poorly in Australia (and he even avoided adelaide). sheesh talk about aussie hate

It was more about what others were saying than you...

But, how on earth is saying Philander is a fine bowler equivalent to, or indicative of Aussie hate???

That's some outstanding logic there champ, what philosophical school have you drawn that piece of brilliance from? Influenced by some French post-modernist charlatan? Wonderful stuff:crazy:

I meant overall - all good and well to get a target of 550+ to win with two and a bit days' play left, but the Saffas have to want to try to win. Otherwise they will go for a draw, and getting a win, from our perspective, is that much harder.

I just don't think they will push for a win - they will bat out the Test with conservative, defensive batting, and it means we will really have to be on top of our game to bowl them out and push for a win.

They'd already have to break the record by 50 runs to win it.

I don't think you need to give a team a sniff with so much time left.

That's more appropriate if you're looking at have to bowl a team out in 3 to 4 sessions.

Winning by heaps is obviously more fun than losing by heaps. But I miss competitive close Test cricket. When is the last time we won a close game? No close games in the second ashes. No wins in the 1st ashes or India. It's been a while.

Nothing in cricket beats a competitive and closely fought Test, it's been too long. Hopefully the saffers show up in the next test.

Lol why is Philander copping so much stick? The guy is quality. I'm sure most players under-perform once in a while and yes Twizzle, you can be a successful bowler without bowling at 150 clicks.

And all this rubbish we hear about players not performing away from home is laughable. Every single player in history has struggled somewhere in their careers. Warner was averaging about 20 outside Australia before that 115 yesterday.
