Kohli Pujara Sharma.. Pretty good middle order going forward. Still feel India would be better off with Yuvraj or Jadeja at no 6 instead of Rahane for an extra bowling option.

Ishant and Philander having a bit to say

Not to sound cocky, but South Africa are a stupid chance of chasing this very large target down

If India could bat that well against the likes of Steyn, Philander and Kallis, then theres nothing in the pitch

Another factor: when South Africa chased down 434 against Australia in Perth, Australia was bowled out/ restricted and had no say or control of the target to set for South Africa as opposed to any declaration by the captain in control of the game

Possible the same thing has happened for India?

run out in a test match should be legalised as a criminal offence..

SA 2/138 need another 320 to win

Smith gifting India pole position heading into the final day. Would love to see SA chase it down

Credit where its due, India have really delivered even if South Africa save the next test match.
Was all set to blast the Indians about how they can't play overseas but they've proved me wrong.

I think they won a test match last time they were over there, and that's where it stops for India. They usually get pummelled the rest of the time. This current series may be different. History suggest SA will bounce back and win the next test easily

I was more specifically referring to this current bunch, the group that toured in 2010 included Gambhir (back when he was decent), Sehwag, Dravid, Laxman and Tendulkar. They were good enough to combat the bowling and got the drawn series.

I expected Steyn and friends to destroy this lot and they may yet, but for them to actually dominate the first test is a big surprise to me.

the other thing is with the retirement of tendulkar the dinosaur, it might have liberated or whipped those lazy young overpaid IPL brats into action to make their own legacy, not live in Tendulkar's shadow, not have Sachin be a shield to take all the punches when he was there

the same thing happened with Michael Clarke taking over from Ponting
