How good is Philander, another quality effort! Come on Saffas, swap us Johnson for Steyn.. it's a fair trade!

I don't like the use of a night watchman last night, I think it's kind of wasteful. I understand it and actually loved the idea when I was younger, but now I think batsmen should have the cajones to face up to that sort of situation so they can bat in position and everyone can be properly utilises.

I am not saying Amla doesn't have the stones (I am certain he does), I think whoever sent Steyn out was wrong and that cricket should evolve past the night watchman.

Sri Lanka's batting is massively overrated.

Not Sangakarra... he averages a tick under 50 away from home, he's a very fine player there shouldn't really be much question over that.

Jayawardene is though, a bit like Mike Hussey - awesome at home (although Hussey has lost that ability too now), and just average away from home

It's about time Sri Lanka played outside of Asia lol.

I must admit that watching sangakkara bat when in full flight is one of the best sights in world cricket although it would help if he was a tad more consistent away from home.

Yeah that 140 he averages in Zimbabwe doesn't inflate his average

47 away
62 at home

Home town Homer

47 away is awesome. Sangakkarra is one of those subcontinent batsemn who averages in the 50's who is actually that good imo. Although it does seem like SL play f**k all tests outside the subcontinent.

140 in Zimbabwe dickhead

So? Every current bastmen who has been round long enough will have inflated stats from playing Zimbabwae. Take that out if you want and he would still average 40+ imagine which is the sign of a good player and then he obvisouly dominates in his home conditions to get his average 50+ and rightfully so.

Bradman is not relevant to this you c**k stain

You're the irrelevant one f**k stick. You know as much about cricket as you do about league, a little less than SFA  Sangakarra has one 2 test series in Zimbabwe where he average 140 and that means he's not a decent batsmen :lol:

Warne averaged 70 against India. What a piechucker!!!!

He's played two tests in Zimbabwe...

without them his away average is 44.3... In Australia it's 65, should we drop that because it inflates it too?

Drop Hussey's performances in Bangladesh and his away average becomes 38.2... If you want to talk hometown bullies a good place to start is the Australians, and Mr Cricket is a hometown special... Hayden's is 41.7 before removing anything, Ponting's is 47 (oh wait, what was Sangakarra's?), captain Clarke 42... see a pattern dweeb, this is not unique to Sri Lankans...

Some obviously GREAT players perform better away from home, two obvious recent ones are Steve Waugh and Rahul Dravid... others like Tendulkar and Kallis are above 50 home and away, but better at home...

Not sure what all the Sri Lankan hate's about, it's pretty funny!

Some of the Sri Lankan bowling records are horrendus. They'd be rivalling Bangladesh in the fast bowling department.

Welegedara looks alright though.

In no way does Sanga's deserve to be lumped in with Mahela and Sammerawhathisname. He's world class no matter where he plays.

Samaraweera suprised me in England this year. I thought he would be dog tucker over there but to be fair to him he held his own and I am very critical of him usually. He got 36 in the first innings as well so maybe he's improving away from home???

Jayawardena imo will always be a flat track bully unless he suprises in this series. He's almost single-handedly scored 10,000 in Galle.
