don't expect Neville, voges, ahmed get a test in the WIs (barring injuries or a 1st test loss)

youd imagine Rhino will be in for siddle or starc come the ashes

I cant see Stac being dropped as he is red hot atm in the shorter version of the game which has to eventually carry over to test match form.

Windies pitches have been dusty and crumbly in recent years so Ahmed getting a run would not shock me,

Meh. He's always been a good one day bowler and always bowled with no control or brains in test cricket.

I would like to see
Warner
Rogers
Smith
Clarke
Voges
Watson/Marsh
Nevill
Johnson
Starc/Ahmed
Lyon
Hazlewood

from the squad that is over there. But I suspect if they choose Ahmed then Hazlewood will be the one to miss out, obviously Bad Hands will play. I think they'll go Voges and Watson but they may be inclined to pick M Marsh instead of/as well as Watson if they play Ahmed, and I suspect Shaun Marsh will be there for Voges

True

You'd imagine Mitch Marsh must play then, to be the 3rd seamer

Of course Sunshine can roll them over, but he is getting on a bit, needs to score runs if he is gonna be in the top batting order (how often has that broken record been played?)

as long as its instead of Lyon, I agree

Lyon could not win us a test match on an Adelaide pitch turning sideways last summer

Im pretty sure they will play Lyon, or both spinners

feel for SOK though, maybe for the ashes? (wishfull thinking)

this is basically the Ashes squad except for Harris, barring any other injuries.

With a few playing county cricket/a-tours so plenty involved in first class cricket should something go wrong

Be interesting to know if this side is one of the oldest we have fielded

8 players turning 30 or well over 30 years of age this year.

lyon, m marsh and hazlewood excluded

Hearing noises that Chanderpaul is set to be dropped.

Madness.
183 runs in his last 11 innings and he is 40. Probably the right call ignoring sentiment, but a shame that this is how it ends for one of the greats.

Still been in better form than Haddin

This series should be a complete walk over, if we don't win the 2 tests convincingly that would be a failure.

did Haddin run over your dog ?
It just shocks that, despite being an average keeper, being 37 and having scored about 200 runs across his last 9 tests he's able to dictate his place in the team. Since he came back in the side he's had one great series and otherwise been mediocre as all hell. He can say oh well this will be my last overseas tour, in the knowledge he's basically undroppable.

And the way his media buddies talk about every catch he takes (and ignore the drops, and the byes and so on), say he's still clearly the best available (he is not) etc.

And he's been a very good player, but he's not getting better by any means, and is hardly the sort of great that should be able to dictate his own farewell.
