I'm about to interview Richard Munro regarding all this.

Question- will anyone like Carch put their season seat membership on hold for the 2 year exile? This is important.

Yeah probably the 10 other people that sit with us.
( I know I’ve already mentioned this )
In all honesty I can’t see them renewing.
They take prams and shit.
They can walk.
They are not what i’d call hard core fans.
One of them is a tigers fans ... he just goes for the social side.
I’m the only one out of the group does not live in walking distance.

There’ll be loads in the same boat.

However
I can see the club hasn’t really got too many options.

The reason I ask is the club is banking on "loyalty to the team and not the ground" and I am less enthusiastic about their prospects.
Mate can you ask him if the club looked at moving games all about in search of financial gain, or did they just choose Kogarah because it's closest?
Eg: if we were to play our "home" game against the Broncos at SunCorp would that have been better financially than playing to a lesser crowd at Kogarah.
Thanks

I'm a member, but not seated and if I was considering "upping" my membership I would certainly be waiting to do so now.

I agree with your point. Knowing many members I think they are in for a shock with how this goes down.

On your last point I am not so sure. I honestly think they could have played at the ground but were petrified about the parking issue. To my mind it can be easily solved with a park and ride solution from a car park somewhere and the station. Obviously not ideal but better than Kogarah in my view at least.

Will do for sure.

Park and ride ....all of us would renew for sure.
Our group of 11 ( I think it is) started as 2 .
Myself and my mate who you’ve met a few times.
Each year we get more people wanting to join in.

If they let it slide for 2 years they may not come back again.

Hope is a very poor strategy.

They are kidding if they don't think 2 years has a massive impact.

Thanks.
one more
Will the building company be facing fines if they are not complete by the due date
I only ask this as the units seem to have taken longer than first planned and I dont want us facing any more financial issues because of their fault
Thanks.

Can tell you now the answer to that is no. The sharks have no control over the development now they have sold out. The Leagues club is merely a tenant of the Chinese developers.

Right so this project has the potential to run more than 2 seasons and we have no control over that.
Not good at all.

Wouldn’t it be in the developers best interest to get it done as quickly as possible?
Cash wise to pay the workers? Yes.
That hasn’t stopped them from being behind on the units and commercial sites though has it.
If they fall behind and we aren’t back playing by 2022 what do they care? Especially as they have no one to answer to.
A normal big development has fines in place if the works aren’t completed on time.

They should be more petrified of moving games away.

Shark Park has always had a lot of late arrivers, people that are waiting for the weather to clear or the team to be announced, i don’t know (but they are fickle f**kers)....but I tell ya what, moving away from home will lose those people.

Carch’s crew is an example I’d suggest.

Might be too late for my feedback.

Depending on the game structure, and how the packages are structured -will there be Kogarah only packages, Bank West only etc ?

I will unlikely go to any of the regional games, will go to the Bank West games and most of the Kogarah

Lots of fickle Sharks fans out there, and seems like there's some that will not go to Kogarah because the Dragons play there even if it's at the detriment of the Sharks. Which is sad.

It would be good to know WHY they need to shut down for so long. I know there's going to be disruption to the Leagues club and no parking but as mentioned there's solution to that.

- Close off part of the ground on game day, not like we fill the bastard anyway.
- No parking, not going to be much at Kogarah anyway
- No Leagues club for pre and post drinks - not going to be one anyway (not counting the Merge Leagues club)

And I think everyone needs to know what is happening to the ground, what if any upgrades are we getting because 2 years with no home ground to not get an improved home ground is ridiculous.

I got the colourful members email with the letter from Richard Munro, asking for feedback, but it fails to give an email address to which this feedback could be sent.

Living in Pennant Hills, I can accept the temporary move to Kogarah, it will mean a slightly shorter drive than I now have to Shark Park, public transport also becomes a possibility. However I put up with bad weather and bad traffic on King Georges Road and Homebush Bay Drive to get to Sharks home games, the only thing that stops me going is if I'm genuinely sick or have a family commitment I cannot weasel out of.

Like everyone else I would like to see the club capitalise on financially beneficial home / away appearances such as Gosford Stadium. I'd also like to see the club establish another licenced club somewhere so it can have a physical home of sorts over the 2 year absence and not just a temporary office in a recycled shipping container vacant office space.

I’ve currently got a flexi GA membership. At the moment with 3 younguns I just can’t get to games enough to run with season seats.

I honestly don’t know what I’ll do with mine. Will probably keep the Flexi pass as I will likely get to a couple games and take people if I’m not looking like using them. I imagine there will be more people taking this up option up than before, but I guess will depend on how the club structures their memberships.

The thing I really dislike in the communication is the “you’ll be left with a great club facility at the end of this”. Great. That’s an inadequate response to the concern the club has not done everything to minimise disruption. How can they have when the developers have a 2.5 year window to frig around with a ground where they aren’t even touching the stadiums?

They can get the ground up and running a lot quicker if they wanted, even if it’s reduced capacity. They can cordon off areas, they can cope without the car park with buses and public transport.

They confirmed no ‘major development to stadiums’ in an email to me.
