They had that 20 to 1 show on Channel 9 tonight, and they were counting down the top 20 songs (within the last 50 years).

Friday On My Mind by The Easybeats was number 1.

The others (in no particular order - working off the top of my mind here) were:

Land Down Under - Men At Work
I Still Call Australia Home - Peter Allen
Australiana - Austentayshus (sp?)
Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
Never Tear Us Apart - INXS
Long Way To The Top - AC/DC
You Just Like Me 'Cos I'm Good In Bed - Skyhooks
Howzat - Sherbert
Georgie Girl - The Seekers
Torn - Natalie Imbruglia
Help Is On The Way - Little River Band
You're The Voice - John Farnham
Working Class Man - Jimmy Barnes
Khe Sanh - Cold Chisel
Eagle Rock - Daddy Cool
Shout - Johnny O'Keefe
I Honestly Love You - Olivia Newton John
Locomotion - Kylie Minogue
Beds Are Burning - Midnight Oil

pathetic list.

INXS and Kylie, i mean FFS

needed more Cold Chisel & Midnight Oil, hell the whole list could have been made up with songs from these two alone!

Australian Crawl why arent they there?

Living End probably should have had a song or two in there aswell

Why woudl you bring back this thread? Why not just start a new one?

Well I remembered seeing a '20 to 01' thread before.. So I just looked for it, didnt realise it was specific to the aussie songs though.. but once i found it i just posted in here anyway.

Top 20 Aussie songs should be by the Oils, AC/DC, The Angels, Cold Chisel (as much as I hate them they are an Aussie icon), that guy...what's his name...the guy who sang with Kylie....Damn it...Argh...Nick Cave!

Well so they say, Neill Finn and some other bloke were the only Kiwis, the rest were Aussies, recorded their songs in Australia.
Neil was the only Kiwi in the band except the short period of time that his brother was in it.

By the way, Come On Eileen isn't actually a one-hit wonder.
DMR had a relatively big hit with Geno in 1980.
